I’ve analyzed hundreds of client sites in 2025. Here are the 10 ranking factors that actually matter for Google and AI search: 1. Brand Authority Signals Google tracks how often your brand gets mentioned across the web. • Get featured in industry roundups • Secure mentions in news publications • Build citations without needing backlinks • Focus on brand search volume growth 2. Multimedia Content Integration Google's AI Overviews are pulling more images, videos, and audio than ever. • Embed videos in blog posts (increases dwell time) • Add custom images with proper alt text • Include audio content with transcripts • Use infographics and charts for data visualization 3. Strategic Link Quality Links from AI Overview sources carry massive weight. • Target sites that appear in Google's AI summaries • Avoid manipulated DR metrics from vendors • Focus on editorial mentions over paid placements • Quality beats quantity every time 4. Intent-Focused Titles Your title should match exactly what searchers want. • Include primary keywords naturally • Match the search intent (informational vs commercial) • Keep under 60 characters • Make it compelling enough to click 5. Logical Content Structure Your H2s and H3s should tell a complete story. • Group related subtopics together • Use descriptive subheadings with keywords • Create logical content flow • Answer related questions within sections 6. Crawl Accessibility If Google (and AI bots) can't read your site, you're invisible. • Run Screaming Frog audits to find crawl issues • Check Cloudflare settings - they block AI bots by default • Submit clean XML sitemaps • Fix broken internal links immediately 7. Mobile-First Experience According to Statista, currently, 64.35% of web traffic comes from mobile devices. • Test every page on mobile first • Check loading speeds on 3G connections • Ensure buttons and forms work on touchscreens • Optimize images for smaller screens 8. Clean Technical Foundation The boring stuff that breaks everything: • SSL certificates installed properly • No duplicate content issues • Proper redirects for moved pages • Schema markup for rich snippets 9. Google Business Profile (Local) Essential for any business with a physical location. • Complete every section of your profile • Collect genuine customer reviews • Post regular updates and photos • Respond to all reviews promptly 10. Unique Product/Category Content Especially critical for e-commerce sites. • Write original product descriptions • Add helpful content to category pages • Include FAQ sections with internal links • Provide value beyond basic product specs Focus on these 10 signals, and both your Google and AI rankings WILL improve. The rest are just noise.

7 Powerful Insights That Helped Us Hit 30,000 Monthly Visits in 60 days with pSEO Getting results with programmatic SEO isn't as simple as many think. We managed to hit 30,000 visits per month in just 2 months, and here are the key insights that made it possible: 1. Look for repeatable keyword patterns This is absolutely critical for pSEO keyword research. Look for patterns like "Is X healthy" that you can replicate across multiple variations. When your input follows a consistent pattern, your output can be templated effectively. 2. Invest in great design Most SEOs overlook this, but design matters tremendously in pSEO. Every page needs to deliver value, and great design (and, therefore, experience) is one way to do it. Don't cut corners here - it directly impacts your results. 3. Data quality (& content quality) is non-negotiable pSEO isn't about scaling AI content. You either need unique data exclusive to you, or you need to present existing data uniquely. This differentiation is what drives exceptional results with pSEO. Otherwise, it's just spam. 4. Deploy hub pages strategically When you're working with thousands of pages (we deployed 3,000), you can't build links to each one. Create hub pages that link to your programmatic pages and focus your link-building efforts there. This will allow you to be efficient and pass on the link juice to all the pages. 5. Plan your internal linking structure Without proper indexing, ranking is impossible. And without proper internal linking, indexing is difficult. So, bake a solid internal linking strategy into the template/design from the start. (Don't forget about breadcrumbs - they're excellent for creating internal links to hub pages.) 6. Include unique elements in templates Every page template needs at least one section unique to that specific page. Otherwise, you're asking for duplicate content issues. 7. Remember: pSEO is still SEO Don't get caught up thinking pSEO is a shortcut. It still requires all the fundamental elements: quality content, solid on-page optimization, technical excellence, and strategic link building. These insights came from real experience (and a ton of headache). The key is understanding that programmatic SEO isn't about cutting corners - it's about scaling what works while maintaining quality at every step. What's been your experience with programmatic SEO? Share your thoughts and experiences - I'd love to hear what's working (or not working) for you.

Programmatic SEO isn’t a shortcut; it’s a smarter way to scale visibility and make better use of your archives—without reinventing the publishing wheel. While breaking news is the heartbeat of a newsroom, it often fades fast in search. Evergreen visibility comes from patterns—recurring topics, places, and people. Programmatic SEO helps you structure those patterns. It enables publishers to create hundreds or thousands of search-optimised pages using templates, internal data, and automation. Think: → Tag pages for evolving topics like “Net Zero” → Location-based pages like “Sydney Crime News” → Profile hubs for public figures that appear regularly When built with strong internal linking, unique metadata, and structured data like NewsArticle, BreadcrumbList, or ProfilePage schema, these pages can rank consistently and support editorial SEO. What kind of programmatic templates work for news publishers? Programmatic SEO isn’t one-size-fits-all. Here are some effective template types newsrooms can deploy at scale: 1. Topic or Tag Hubs 2. Consolidate reporting around recurring themes like /topic/net-zero/ or /tag/sydney-crime/. 3. Location-Based Pages 4. Structure geo-specific news into URLs like /nsw/sydney/crime/ or /vic/melbourne/transport/. 5. Public Figure or Entity Profiles 6. Automatically surface all content linked to key figures at URLs like /profile/elon-musk/ or /profile/penny-wong/. 7. Event or Match Hubs 8. Reuse evergreen URLs for high-interest live updates (e.g. /aus-vs-eng-cricket-2025/ or /us-election-2024/), updating only the content and metadata as needed. 9. Numeric Utility Pages (Calculator-style) 10. Like the CollegeSimply “11 out of 13” calculator, news publishers can create calculators for: → Election swing or margin calculations → Budget impact estimates 11. Sports ladder/points progression   → These templates answer long-tail queries with low content effort but high traffic potential. The key? Align editorial planning with scalable SEO opportunities. Recurring topics, locations, and public figures are low-effort, high-return content opportunities when supported by structured templates, search-optimised metadata, and strong internal linking. 🔑 Key Takeaways: ✅ Focus on topic hubs, location pages or archive summaries for long-term ranking. ✅ Use scalable templates with titles, meta descriptions and H1s optimised for search intent. ✅ Link related articles to hub pages to build authority and relevance. ✅ Add structured data and prioritise Core Web Vitals for better indexing. ✅ Monitor crawl stats; deindex or merge thin pages to maintain site health. Done well, programmatic SEO boosts traffic, improves navigation, and strengthens authority. It’s not about publishing more, it’s about structuring what already exists in your CMS so it can be found. Leading a content team & want to explore this further, I’m happy to share frameworks to get started. #SEO #NewsPublishing #ProgrammaticSEO #DigitalPublishing

Programmatic SEO: When It Works — and When It Destroys Your Rankings Programmatic SEO can scale visibility fast. It can also collapse your domain authority. The difference is execution. Large-scale sites using programmatic strategies have generated thousands of ranking pages — but Google’s recent core updates have penalized thin, templated, low-value deployments. Scale without substance no longer works. ⸻ What Programmatic SEO Actually Is Programmatic SEO uses templates + structured data to generate pages at scale. Common examples: • Location-based pages • Product variant pages • Comparison pages • Industry-specific landing pages When done correctly, it captures long-tail demand efficiently. When done poorly, it creates index bloat. ⸻ When Programmatic SEO Works It succeeds when: • Each page satisfies real search demand • Pages provide meaningful differentiation • Structured data enhances clarity • Internal linking reinforces clusters • Crawl budget is controlled The key is value density, not page volume. ⸻ When It Fails Programmatic SEO becomes dangerous when: • Pages are nearly identical • There is no unique insight per URL • Keywords are forced without intent • Thousands of low-value pages get indexed • Quality signals are diluted Google’s AI-driven ranking systems detect repetition quickly. ⸻ The Approach We Take at Preo Communications Before scaling, we validate: 1. Search demand across long-tail variations 2. Intent consistency across the template 3. Ability to add unique value at scale 4. Technical safeguards to prevent index bloat Programmatic SEO is not about automation. It’s about controlled expansion. ⸻ Bottom Line Scale amplifies quality — or weakness. At Preo Communications, we treat programmatic SEO as an engineering discipline, not a content shortcut.

Built 4,000+ pages with programmatic SEO. ↳ Here are 5 things I learned and would do differently Earlier this year, I took on a niche site stuck at 500 visitors/month. We built a full-blown programmatic SEO engine from scratch, over 4,000 pages auto-generated with logic, data, and templates. The results? Satisfying. But not so perfect. Here are 5 lessons I learned and would do differently 1. Programmatic doesn’t mean publishing junk. ↳ Every page still needs a value-driven layout, helpful content, and UX thinking. 2. Without internal linking, you’ll get ghosted by Google. ↳ We built dynamic hubs that updated as new pages went live. This made a huge difference in crawling & indexing. 3. Keyword Intent > volume. ↳ It’s not about finding 10K-volume terms. It’s about finding repeatable intent patterns people are actually searching. 4. Templates should feel custom. ↳ We used variables like use-case, audience type, geo so each page felt hand-written. 5. Start slow. Test indexing first. ↳ We rolled out in batches of 100 → tracked → tweaked → then scaled. Most people think programmatic SEO is a source to traffic. It can be, if you care about quality, not just quantity. That’s it for today! —–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– If this post helped you, feel free to repost or tag someone who needs it ♻️ And smash the Follow Shwetank + 🔔 button for more SEO experiments & frameworks that actually work. More than ever, businesses are losing organic traffic as AI changes search and Google cracks down on programmatic SEO "spam". Here's how to recover: - Remove low-value pages (delete or noindex pages that don't drive traffic). This is the highest leverage recovery action you can take in most cases. Often you can remove >50% of a large programmatic site. Pro tip: keep the removed pages in internal link graphs and sitemaps until they are found and dropped by Google. - Remove boilerplate or low-value content. Consider adding unique content to programmatic pages if possible and if it adds value for users, but avoid creating more spam. - Reduce listing duplication / improve unique listing distribution (relevant for marketplace sites who are most often affected by programmatic spam). Google wants to see unique listings on browse pages vs. the same assortment shown for many pages. - Improve internal linking. Not specific to recovery, but internal linking remains tried and true and almost always yields positive results. Algorithmic recovery can take months, so early and aggressive action is key to getting back on track.

🛑 Quality beats Quantity for website content. This indexation trend from a website shows how impressions were flat or down despite the submitted and indexed pages shooting up a massive 350%. A new product launch injected tens of thousands of low-quality, thin content into the website. Rankings dropped, and traffic took a hit, even impacting unrelated pages. Why did this happen? 👉 The product team designed new programmatic SEO content and shipped without an expert SEO review or point of view. 👉 The domain had a strong track record for high-quality content in the past. 👉 Google gave the content a shot and indexed it. 👉 Other Google search ranking systems noticed the thin content and must have adjusted the domain's quality ratings down. 👉 Google's search ranking systems that decide keyword rankings adjusted rankings domain-wide based on a lower domain quality rating. 👉 Users who landed on the new low-quality programmatic content bounced back to Google's SERPs, sending additional negative signals catastrophic to rankings. The lesson? Content quality is not negotiable. Bad SEO hygiene, such as duplicate title tags, poor internal linking, etc., is not just an 'SEO concern' but a user experience nightmare in this case. It's easy to get caught up in the excitement of scale—launching thousands of pages at once, hoping to capture a wide audience. But if those pages aren't crafted with care and quality, they could do more harm than good. Programmatic SEO can be powerful when done right, with unique value, deep insights, and a true understanding of user needs. Rushing it without an SEO perspective and the right quality control can backfire, harming not only the new pages but also the existing ones that previously performed well. Remember: scaling content isn't just about quantity—it's about scaling the right content, thoughtfully and strategically. #seotips #programmaticseo #scalingseo
