I'm tired of hearing PR = traditional media. Most agencies are getting it wrong too. š It isnāt⦠The NY Times The WSJĀ <Insert any other big-name publication> people get excited about Even if you land in a top-tier publication, chances are people will read about it like you are right now - on their LinkedIn feed - rather than the actual media platform where it was published. These traditional platforms may provide varying degrees of credibility, but they don't provide distribution. Today, EVERYTHING is media. Hereās what that might look like: Targeted Content: - Niche Podcasts: Identify the specific podcast your idealĀ CIO (Chief Information Officer), Ā CMO (Chief Marketing Officer), or whoeverĀ listens to based on their industry and interests. These podcasts are GOLD for moving prospects from awareness to consideration. - Curated Newsletters:Ā Seek outĀ targeted Substack newslettersĀ relevant to your niche, not just "gems." Think "Bankless" for crypto enthusiasts or "The Information" for tech insiders. - Engaging Collaborations:Ā Partner withĀ influencers who genuinely understand your audience and know how to engage themĀ on platforms like Instagram Live. Look for influencers who spark conversations and promote meaningful interactions. - LinkedIn Fireside Chats:Ā HostĀ live-streamed chats with industry leadersĀ and your CEO, and top clients. This adds credibility and attracts a wider audience. - Leveraging Trends:Ā CreateĀ TikTok accounts or tie into those that creatively engage with relevant trends and topicsĀ specific to your industry. Interactive & Community-Driven: - Virtual Conferences:Ā Participate in or hostĀ virtual conferences that attract your target audience, offering valuable content and networking opportunities. - Twitch Streams:Ā ConsiderĀ live-streaming on TwitchĀ for real-time interaction, especially if your target market is tech-savvy or in the gaming industry. - Reddit AMAs:Ā HostĀ Reddit AMAs (Ask Me Anything)Ā on relevant subreddits to directly engage with your audience and answer their questions in an informal setting. - Pinterest Boards:Ā CreateĀ curated Pinterest boardsĀ around themes your target market actively searches for, showcasing your brand's expertise and visual appeal. Content with Reach & Impact: - YouTube Channels:Ā These channels have contentĀ optimized for search, and one interview alone can drive targeted traffic. - Data-Driven Insights:Ā PrioritizeĀ creating content backed by data and industry insightsĀ that your target market craves, like reports, white papers, or infographics. Remember: If you aren't seeing the results you want with PR, it's almost ALWAYS one of two things. Either your definition of media is too narrow (and hence, strategies are outdated and underperforming), and/or you don't have a distribution plan to go with it. #pr #publicrelations #strategiccommunications #marketing #tech #b2b

If your TV + Digital marketing strategy is not delivering results, hereās the exact strategy that we follow for our clients⦠For years, media planning was a zero-sum game. TV got you reach. Digital got you targeting. But in 2025, the smartest brands are integrating both to win. The winning formula comes down to: 1. Have digital-first vertical creatives and use digital to get incremental reach Vertical video formats significantly outperform horizontal ones on mobile. As per a study conducted by Animaker, they can reach 58% more people on the same budget. 2. Use an audience-first approach rather than a platform-first approach Nielsen data shows that platform-first campaigns (using only one channel) hit just 17% of your target audience, while audience-first planning (TV + digital) reached up to 90%. Cross-media tools now help unify data across TV, CTV, social, and display to avoid duplication and boost ROI. 3. Digital reach and frequency also matter Overexposing audiences on digital can hurt as much as underdelivering. In one of our YouTube marketing campaigns for Pilgrim, we capped frequency via DV30 and achieved 98% ad recall and a 121% lift in searches. You see, TV gives you credibility and scale. Digital adds precision and recency. Together, they build full-funnel effectiveness. If your media strategy still separates TV and digital teams, itās time to rethink. Whatās been your biggest challenge in unifying media planning? #Marketing #PerformanceMarketing #MediaPlanning

Few days back, I shared an awareness film on meningococcal meningitis, built for the Dr. Reddy's Laboratories team. But a film lives in a feed. And a feed moves fast. So the team at Dr Reddyās correctly asked us what if we don't wait for the parent to find the message? What if the message finds the parent? That's how this went cross-media. 1. From film into quick commerce. Awareness flyers inside baby product orders on Zepto, reaching parents mid-purchase. 2. Into health platforms. Information woven into FirstCry's vaccination tracker, right next to milestones parents already check. 3. And into the news. Placements on Inshorts, in the format young parents already scroll through. 4. From the news we went to trusted voices. Conversations with paediatricians, parenting communities, and a chatbot for parents with real questions. 5. From trusted voices to on ground. Flyers inside retail stores, right next to the baby care shelves. Reaching the right audience, at the right moment, through the right context.Ā That's cross-media. And we were glad to do it for Dr Reddyās. Thanks to the Dr. Reddy's Laboratories team and the Schbang team across strategy, medical, creative, and production for taking this beyond the film and into every layer a parent lives in.

SUPER BOWL'S SECRET WEAPON: WHY TOUCHDOWNS & TEARS WON THE MULTI-PLATFORM GAME. Underscoring the Playbook, How the Dunkin Composed a Marketing Masterpiece Everyone was giddy over the Ben Affleck and JLo Super Bowl advertisement. Beyond the celebrity romance and star power, though, it was a masterclass in cross-platform storytelling. So, regardless of your financial resources or A-list connections, how can you create a similar enchantment for your own brand? Do you recall the time when a brand could be introduced by a single billboard? Those days are long gone. Customers of today want immersive experiences on all platforms, therefore in order to keep their attention, marketers must create a symphony of narratives. 1. Know Your Audience, Own Your Platform: Dunkin' leveraged celebrities Affleck and JLo's social media followings, tailoring content for each platform, emphasizing the importance of understanding audience preferences and speaking their language. A brand uses cryptic visuals, heartwarming videos, interactive quizzes, live Q&As, and infographics to engage followers, build anticipation, and educate potential customers. These strategies create trust, and transparency, and position the brand as a thought leader. 2. Tease, Don't Reveal: The cryptic social media posts effectively created a pre-game buzz, fostering anticipation and engagement, and driving organic reach. The multi-platform storytelling approach involves recognizing each platform's unique strengths and tailoring content accordingly, rather than simply posting the same content everywhere. 3. Authenticity is Key: The commercial effectively utilized celebrity endorsements and relatable stories, highlighting the importance of identifying and showcasing a brand's authentic voice. The magic lies in reaching diverse audiences, engaging them through interactive experiences, showcasing brand equity, and guiding customers through the buyer journey seamlessly. 4. Embrace the Unexpected: Matt Damon's surprise cameo in Dunkin' exemplified his willingness to take risks and have fun, promoting the importance of experimentation and trying new things. To conduct a successful marketing orchestra, understand your audience, plan a cohesive narrative, be authentic, and track results to refine your approach. 5. Keep the Conversation Going: Dunkin' maintained engagement with fans on social media, responding to comments and sharing behind-the-scenes content, demonstrating the importance of keeping audiences engaged after the initial launch. Mastering multi-platform storytelling can transform your brand from a one-hit wonder to a marketing maestro, allowing you to compose a brand symphony and captivate the world. #marketing #storytelling #multiplatform #brandbuilding #engagement #superbowl #marketingandadvertising #storytellingforbusiness #socialmedia Now it's your turn: Share your thoughts on the Dunkin' commercial or your own experiences with platform-specific storytelling.

š The Hidden Cross-Platform Strategy Behind Google's Brand Search Results Have you ever wondered why your brand's search results look the way they do in Google? What I discovered about how Google categorizes and displays content across platforms will change your entire digital strategy. Most businesses focus solely on website SEO, but Google's algorithm is doing something much more sophisticated behind the scenes. Look at what happens when you search for a brand name: Google doesn't just display random images - it creates a carefully curated digital ecosystem that pulls content from multiple platforms and categorizes it in two distinct ways: 1ļøā£ By Platform Source - LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, etc. 2ļøā£ By Thematic Category - "Marketing strategies," "Business growth," "Healthcare management" This reveals Google's advanced image recognition technology that understands visual context beyond just keywords. What This Means For Your Brand: The days of platform-specific strategies are ending. Your brand isn't just represented by your website - it's the sum of your entire digital footprint across all platforms. Google's cross-platform indexing algorithm evaluates: Visual consistency across platforms Content quality and relevance Thematic clustering of your content Platform diversity and engagement metrics Strategic Implications: ā Maintain consistent visual branding across ALL platforms ā Create content that clearly fits into your industry categories ā Distribute quality content across multiple platforms rather than focusing on one ā Ensure all images include comprehensive metadata and alt text ā Link your social profiles to your primary website and each other By understanding how Google pulls and categorizes your social media presence, you can design content that maximizes visibility not just on individual platforms, but in the consolidated search results that often serve as the first impression for your brand. The most successful brands in 2025 will be those that optimize for this cross-platform ecosystem rather than treating each platform as a separate entity. Spending millions on a celebrity-packed ad might still grab attentionābut itās no longer enough to make your brand unforgettable in todayās digital world.šš½ To truly cut through the noise today, brands need to connect their product across multiple digital and sometimes physical touchpoints. Hereās what that looks like: š Drip your campaign across multiple channelsāsocial media (personal brands), broadcast, in-store stunts, your website, and beyond. š Build a cohesive, integrated story that doesnāt just live in a single 30-second spot but spans the customer journey. Think, "how can I keep telling this story after people see it first?" Take Bud Light as an example. Ahead of their Super Bowl spot, Bud Light already teased the campaignācreating a sense of anticipation. Think of this as a ātrailerā for the actual ad, likely featuring Post Malone and Shane Gillis. (If I had to guess, theyāll be doing fun, offbeat activities without drinking beer on camera, because⦠legalities.) So, if youāre not spending $10+ million on Super Bowl ads, here are some takeaways you can apply: 1ļøā£ Tease your campaigns. Just like a movie trailer, create familiarity around your message. When people finally see the full ad, theyāll be more likely to pay attention. The same logic applies when a movie hits Amazonāyouāre more likely to watch something youāve seen a trailer for than something brand-new. 2ļøā£ Integrate your product into real life. Tie your campaign to real-life events or actions. This could be a PR stunt (a live activation, as agencies like to call it) or a thoughtful feature added to your website that extends the customer journey and builds on your campaign. 3ļøā£ Entertain or educate. Consumers either want to laugh or learnāpick one and do it exceptionally well. You donāt need a Super Bowl-sized budget to stand out. From my experience, I've seen smaller budgets often lead to more creativity. So, without further ado, let it rip. š„

Media coverage used to be our end game. What if I told you the real game is now building a visibility engine... Feels like the start to a new Matrix movie, but this is real life. Here are five shifts I've been tracking in the last 90 days: 1ļøā£ Coverage ā Credibility Loops Old way: Land a headline and move on. New way: Turn one mention into a loop of reinforcement. How to do it: When you get coverage, share it with context on your high authority pages. Add context, schema and link back. ā Goal: Each media win strengthens your credibility signal. 2ļøā£ PR ā Visibility Systems Old way: Announce something. Hope it gets picked up. New way: Treat PR like a system that runs year-round. How to do it: Pick 3ā4 themes you want to be known for (e.g., AI ethics, customer trust, or founder resilience). Build content and media pitches that ladder up to those themes each quarter. Connect your PR, LinkedIn, GEO and SEO efforts so they echo the same ideas. ā Goal: Build long term training data and information. 3ļøā£ Stories ā Searchable Assets Old way: Tell your story once and call it done. New way: Make your story easy to find and show up in answers. How to do it: Add keyword-rich titles and summaries to everything you publish. Use your spokespersonās name and your company name together (thatās how search learns to connect them). Update older articles with new context to keep them relevant. ā Goal: Turn your stories into searchable assets that live where your buyers and algorithms look. 4ļøā£ Metrics ā Machine Visibility Old way: Celebrate impressions and reach. New way: Ask, āDo we show up when people ask AI tools questions about our space?ā How to do it: Run brand prompts through tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity. Track if your company, spokesperson, or content shows up. Use those insights to guide what stories and publications you target next. ā Goal: Know how visible your brand really is in search and generative answers. 5ļøā£ Awareness ā Authority Ecosystems Old way: Only the brand talks. New way: Everyone shares the message. How to do it: Encourage your team and executives to post once a week on LinkedIn. Give them ready-to-use snippets, visuals, or quotes. Go deeper and set up Linkedin newsletters and/or articles (things generative search and algorithms like). Align everyone around the same 2ā3 messages for the quarter. ā Goal: Turn your company into an ecosystem of voices. The PR win isnāt the article anymore. Itās what you build around it. The best brands are planning on how to connect the dots between coverage, content, and credibility. #VisibilityEngine #PRStrategy #ThoughtLeadership #Communications

Ever wondered why some brands thrive in the digital space while others struggle to keep up? In the rapidly evolving world of digital advertising, it's tempting to chase every new trend. Everyone on LinkedIn will tell you that the latest, greatest thing will change marketing forever. But far too many brands arenāt getting the message. Itās about *enhancing*, not overhauling. Itās true that over the last few years, platforms like #TikTok, #Pinterest, and #Reddit have become major players, shaking up the Facebook/Google dominated landscape weāve had for years. The trick isnāt to abandon tried-and-true methods chasing trends, but to create a cohesive strategy that leverages each platformās unique strengths and feeds into your customer journey. Hereās how we do it: šØ Build on Success: Identify whatās working on established channels like Instagram, #Facebook, and #Google, then adapt those strategies for emerging platforms. Donāt copy and paste your campaigns, but keep the same DNA to evolve them for new audiences. For instance, analyze which of your Instagram posts drive the most engagement, then create similar content tailored for TikTokās short-video format. š«¶ Synergy Over Siloes: Use cross-platform insights to create campaigns that flow seamlessly from TikTok to your website, and then retarget effectively on Meta Ads. Think about how brands like Nike have seamlessly integrated TikTok campaigns with their existing Instagram strategy, creating a unified customer experience. ā” Stay Nimble: Be ready to tweak and refine as you go. The digital landscape changes fast, and agility is key. One challenge is maintaining brand consistency across platforms. Ensure your core message and visual identity remain consistent, even when adapting content for different audiences. By integrating new platforms thoughtfully, DTC brands can ensure they donāt just keep upāthey stay ahead. How are you working to integrate new platforms without losing your brandās essence? #DigitalStrategy #IntegratedMarketing #DTC #Ecommerce #Growth #AdTech #BrandBuilding #MarketingInnovation

I've worked with personal brands like GaryVee and Ryan Serhant. They all use this 4-step framework to save time (and money) š 1. Start with Long-Form Content At first glance, this might sound backwards. Creating long-form content takes forever, right? Here's the thing: if you nail this, it becomes the engine for your entire personal brand. Best long-form formats I've seen work: ⢠Vlogs ⢠Podcasts & Interviews (my personal favorite) ⢠Webinars & Virtual Workshops ⢠Keynotes & Panel Discussions ⢠Q&A Sessions (close second) ⢠Live Streams Yes, it's a commitment. You're looking at 1-3 hours to create something exceptional. But you only need to do this once a month (weekly if you're ambitious). 2. Repurpose into Short-Form Content Every long-form piece can spawn dozens of short-form assets: ⢠Pull quotes for Twitter and Facebook ⢠Cut video clips for Reels, YouTube Shorts, and TikTok ⢠Transcribe clips into written posts for Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook ⢠Create longer clips for standalone Facebook and YouTube videos ⢠Turn transcripts into articles and blog posts Here's the irony: Long-form content eats 70-90% of your time, but short-form drives 70-90% of your growth. Classic Pareto Principle. 3. Tailor Content to Each Platform What crushes on TikTok might flop on LinkedIn. What works on Instagram might die on Twitter. Most creators skip this step. Big mistake. Each platform has its own culture: ⢠LinkedIn wants professional insights ⢠TikTok craves entertainment ⢠Instagram loves visual storytelling ⢠Twitter rewards hot takes Same message, different packaging. Use my repurposing framework as your starting point, then adapt. 4. Delegate EVERYTHING (Except the Source) You only need to be involved in creating the long-form content. Everything else? Delegate immediately: ⢠Strategy: Someone to extract your ideas ⢠Copy: Someone to articulate your voice ⢠Design: Someone to visualize your concepts ⢠Video: Someone to edit your content ⢠Distribution: Someone to handle posting And no, this doesn't require venture funding. If you're hands-on with freelancers, you can build a solid team for under $2,000/month. Absolute steal. If you want the whole thing off your plate, agencies run $2,500-$10,000/month. (This is exactly what we're building at engine.fm ā hit me up on LinkedIn if you want details š) ā Your attention is your greatest asset, thanks for sharing it with me šļø
