We grew an email list from 0 to 500K subscribers in just 10 months. If I were starting from scratch today, here's exactly how I'd do it again: 1) Nail the Lead Magnet: The fastest way to grow your email list is by offering something valuable in exchange for an email. Think of it like this: people won't give up their email for nothing. Create something they can't ignore: a discount, exclusive content, or a tool they can’t find elsewhere. For us, offering free travel guides was a game-changer. 2) Optimize for Opt-Ins Everywhere: Your website, blog, and even social media accounts should work like opt-in machines. For example: - Add pop-ups and fly outs on key pages. - Place CTAs above the fold. - Use scroll-triggered modals when visitors are engaged. We tested endlessly, and this attention to detail paid off big. 3) Tap Into Paid Growth Early: Ads get a bad rep, but when done right, they’re a growth accelerant. We launched targeted ads promoting our lead magnet and built a funnel that turned traffic into email signups. Paid campaigns helped us scale fast while testing which offers resonated with our audience. 4) Partner with the Right People: Collaborations can grow your list faster than any single effort. Whether it’s co-branded giveaways, email swaps, or shoutouts, find brands or creators that share your target audience. A well-executed partnership will unlock exponential growth. One really unique thing we did: We bought a bunch of viral social accounts and rebranded them for our business. This was huge in kickstarting massive and sustainable growth. And we fast-tracked the social proof we needed to build trust and scale quickly. 5) Focus on Quality, Not Just Quantity: A big list is meaningless without engagement. From Day 1, we focused on high-value emails to ensure subscribers opened, clicked, and stayed. Here’s a pro tip: Consistency wins. Sending emails weekly or bi-weekly keeps your list warm and engaged. 6) Build a Content Machine: Pair email growth with an organic content strategy that feeds your funnel. Blog posts, social media, and SEO aren’t just good for traffic—they create trust. The more valuable content you share, the more people will want to hear from you. 7) Leverage Cheap Marketing Channels in Ways Others Haven’t: This is going to ruffle some feathers but we absolutely dominated cold email for user acquisition. To the tune of 6 figure subscriber acquisition. No one was doing cold email for B2C the way we did it. This proved to be the most scalable yet cheapest acquisition channel we had. — To recap: - Offer something valuable for free to grow your list. - Use every channel—paid and organic—to drive opt-ins. - Build relationships with partners who already have your audience. The result? A system that scales. Your list is the one asset you fully own—start building it ASAP!

3 posts brought in 11.8% of my total impressions in 2024 (1,975,919). Here are 3 reasons why I think they outperformed all others: For context - these 3 content pieces had 1 thing in common: They were all lead magnets. For anyone unfamiliar - a lead magnet is a valuable resource offered in exchange for engagement and the person’s email address. The numbers speak for themselves. The 3 posts generated: • 231,833 impressions • 1,299 reactions • 1,884 comments • 11 reposts • 1,296 new email subscribers Let’s take a look at the content pieces responsible for this: 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 (𝟴𝟬,𝟯𝟱𝟭 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀) Hook: I spent 10 hours analyzing the playbook Chris Walker used to scale his B2B company from 0 to 8-figures in 3 years using LinkedIn. The result is a 24-minute breakdown. 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗯𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 (𝟳𝟳,𝟵𝟳𝟮 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀) Hook: In 2015, this guy used his last $50 to start a podcast. Last month, he raised a $400M VC Fund. I spent 11 hours analyzing his content playbook. The result is a 23-minute breakdown: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗢𝗦 (𝟳𝟯,𝟱𝟭𝟱 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀) Hook: I’ve spent the last 5 years building 110+ LinkedIn content engines - now I’m giving away our internal operating system for free. (I’ve also linked the full posts down below) ______ There are 3 reasons why I think they worked well: 1. They offer immense value to our target audience Our target audience: B2B founders & executives who want to grow their business using content. To them, these posts offer so much value that leaving a comment and their email address in exchange for the resource feels like a no-brainer. Great lead magnets make people say: “I can’t believe they’re giving this away FOR FREE!” 2. They are packed with specific social proof If we didn’t signal the value these resources contained, they wouldn’t have performed half as well. “0 to 8-figures in 3 years”, “raised a $400M VC Fund”, “5 years building 110+ content engines” - you get the idea. The more specific the numbers, the more vivid the picture, the better. 3. They tell a story 3 months ago, my content strategist Max Radman ran an analysis of my 5 best-performing posts of all time. They had 1 thing in common: A great story. Our hypothesis: People connect to stories quicker than dry facts. From then on, we made sure to include great storytelling in every post. Including these 3 - and it worked. (See how I told this as a story, and you read all the way through?) TL:DR • create a valuable resource • use social proof to signal its value • tell a (personal) story around it Follow these 3 steps and it’s impossible to make a bad lead magnet. ____ PS: There’s a lot more that goes into making a GREAT lead magnet - luckily Max summarized his findings in a content piece of his own. Check it out in the comments!

900 downloads. 0 pipeline. This is where most B2B lead magnets fail. And nobody talks about it. You spend hours creating a checklist A PDF A “value-packed” guide And it gets clicks Downloads Even praise But here’s what you won’t get: Revenue. Why? Because your ideal buyer doesn’t want another freebie They want clarity They want proof They want to know you’ve solved this problem before (for someone just like them) Truth is: ❌ Interns love lead magnets ❌ Freelancers love lead magnets ❌ Decision-makers don’t If you want serious pipeline, focus on this: ✅ Show ROI with case studies ✅ Package insights into buying tools (not educational fluff) ✅ Make them qualify to get it Lead magnets aren’t broken. Your strategy is. Want better leads? Build magnets that attract buyers, not browsers. How we generate leads is changing because people are tired of endless forms. They want value upfront. So, how do we balance the pros and cons? The answer lies in a blended approach. Think about it this way. Gated content shouldn't be your only lead-generation tactic.  It should be part of a broader strategy that includes other, more engaging methods. For example, using interactive experiences. Consider using immersive content. This type of content attracts attention and generates interest before you ask for contact information. Interactive quizzes, calculators, and assessments offer value upfront. They engage prospects and provide personalized insights, which builds trust and makes them more likely to share their details later. Other types of immersive content, like virtual tours or interactive demos, showcase your product from another angle. They also create a memorable experience and show your expertise, which can be a powerful lead magnet. Remember that using interactive content for #leadgeneration isn't about replacing gated content entirely.  It's about offering a mix of options.  As Forrester suggests, "B2B marketers need to diversify their lead generation strategies beyond traditional gated content." What content strategies are you using to balance lead generation and audience engagement?  #b2bmarketing #demandgeneration #marketingstrategy

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺? We were attracting researchers, not buyers. Here's what the 11 failed lead magnets were doing: • Industry reports - Downloaded by competitors and students • Best practices guides - Attracted DIY-ers who'd never buy • Trend analysis - Read by analysts, not decision makers • Templates - Used by junior staff with zero budget authority Lead magnet graveyard stats: • Average download-to-customer rate: 0.4% • 89% of downloads came from non-target personas • Sales qualified leads: 3% of total downloads • Revenue attribution: Nearly zero The 1 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗱: "ROI Calculator: Exact Savings from Switching Manufacturing Systems" Why it worked: • Self-qualifying - Only people considering a switch would use it • Buyer-focused - Addressed CFO concerns, not engineer curiosity • Action-oriented - Required them to input their current costs • Decision-ready - Generated immediate budget conversations Results from the winning lead magnet: • Downloads: 847 (vs 15,000 from failed ones) • Qualified prospects: 312 (37% qualification rate) • Sales meetings booked: 89 • Closed deals: 23 (2.7% download-to-customer rate) The insight: 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝘁𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲. 5 Proven Frameworks to Get High-Quality Leads for Coaches You’re posting consistently. You’re engaging with people. You’re showing up daily. And yet, no high-quality leads. Here’s the thing, coaching clients don’t just fall into your lap. You need a system. A repeatable framework that turns visibility into sales. 1️⃣ The Content Ladder Framework Most coaches post “value” but forget to move people toward a buying decision. Here’s how to structure your content: ✅ Awareness posts: Educate & attract new audiences. (e.g., "Why most people fail at X") ✅ Trust-building posts: Case studies, transformations, behind-the-scenes of your coaching. ✅ Call-to-action posts: Ask them to DM you for a free resource, session, or next step. Each piece of content should pull your audience deeper into your ecosystem. 2️⃣ The DM Magnet Framework High-quality leads don’t just engage. They DM you. But only if you make it frictionless. ✅ Use CTAs that make it easy: “DM ‘COACH’ and I’ll send you a breakdown of how I helped X double their revenue in 3 months.” “DM ‘SYSTEM’ to see the exact steps to book 5+ clients per month without cold outreach.” A simple one-word DM CTA works because it removes the hesitation of starting a conversation. 3️⃣ The Warm Engagement Framework Most coaches struggle with cold outreach. Because it feels, well… cold. Instead of pitching out of nowhere, warm up your audience first: ✅ Comment on their posts before DMing them. ✅ Engage with their stories before making an offer. ✅ Send voice notes or personalized videos—they convert 10x better than text. By the time you start a conversation, they already know who you are. 4️⃣ The Mini-Webinar Framework Some clients need more trust before buying. Long-form content builds authority fast. ✅ Host a 15-minute value-packed training on LinkedIn or Instagram. ✅ Pick one pain point your audience struggles with and solve it live. ✅ At the end, offer a free consultation for those who need deeper help. The right people will raise their hands and step forward. 5️⃣ The Lead Magnet Framework Some people need one more push before booking a call. That’s where lead magnets come in. ✅ Create a 1-page PDF (checklist, roadmap, or case study). ✅ Offer it for free in exchange for a DM or email. ✅ Follow up with them personally after they get it. People who actively request your lead magnet are already interested. They just need a nudge to move forward. P.S. Want to build a brand that gets 5X ROI and high-quality leads? DM “BRAND”

I spent 10+ hours studying Codie A. Sanchez's funnel. She is CRUSHING the creator game. IG: 2.1M YT: 1.3M X: 527K TT: 1.4M LI: 323K But she's making 3 mistakes that may be costing her $50,000/month (and tons of email subscribers) So I created a 3-step plan to help her fix this problem: 1️⃣ Step #1: Optimizing her social media profile. On social, your goal is to capture emails. Currently, Codie drives users to her Linktree site. The problem? • Multiple steps • Decision fatigue Instead of having all these different links, Codie should plug one thing... Her email opt-in. The problem? Her only opt-in at the moment is her Newsletter Let's break it down: — Newsletters are great for nurturing your audience. But not great as an opt-in. Because they are not designed to deliver an outcome quickly. • Vague promise. • Low value upfront. • Inconvenient delivery. So we need a high-value free opt-in here. But before creating one, there’s 1 crucial step we can’t skip: 2️⃣ Step #2: Creating her Lead Magnet Strategy Difference between great and bad lead magnets: Strategy Just giving something away for free isn’t enough. Your lead magnet should be strategically designed to: • Build credibility. • Deliver a quick win. • Turn subs into customers. So after studying Codie's funnel, I came up with a lead magnet idea that can do that: "Buy Your First Business, Go From Employee To Owner And Say Goodbye To Your 9-5 Once & For All (Even If You Don't Have Any Experience In The Business World)" A FREE, 5-day email course breaking down everything you need to spot the right deal for you, evaluate businesses like a pro, and become your own boss. — Why an Email Course? They’re the most effective way to drive opt-ins and allow you to: • Make it digestible (over 5 days) • Track engagement for targeted follow-ups • Prime your audience by leading with education • Make more sales via email There's a reason why Email Courses are trending and used by the biggest creators like Ali Abdaal, James Clear, and Greg Isenberg among others. 3️⃣ Step #3: Creating her landing page Here we want to follow Nicolas Cole Rule of 1: • 1 CTA • 1 specific offer • 1 specific audience No navigation bar. No links to your blog. No “about me” section. People who end up on this page should have 1 option: Opt-in or leave. — With this in mind, I created an example landing page (Link in comments) The copy is optimised for conversions and the design is based on her branding. — By making these changes, Codie would: • Capture more emails • Build more trust & goodwill • Boost her digital product sales Obviously, she’d need to actually execute all these steps (and some other stuff) correctly. That’s where I can help. So, Codie A. Sanchez, if you’d be interested in building this let me know... I do all this work without taking up any of your time, by repurposing your videos, newsletters, website, course material and my own research. Sent you a DM with more details 💌

We booked 30 calls and closed $10k MRR in 2 weeks for a B2B agency All using lead magnets. (3 key factors) Not only do lead magnets outperform most other forms of lead generation - But they also produce higher quality deals. The catch? If you want your lead magnets to actually: - Stand out - Convert leads - Attract inbound quality deals The lead magnet has to actually be valuable. There are 3 things that make up a high performing lead magnets that achieves all of these: 1/ It must be actionable An actionable lead magnet is something that somebody can take - and instantly implement into their business. The faster the implementation, the higher and more actionable it is. Examples: - Ad templates - Calculators - Spreadsheets - Step-by-step guides - Cheat sheets 2/ How much would they pay Another question you have to ask yourself - ‘How much would someone pay for this?’ If you’re able to create a lead magnet that you’re ICP would genuinely spend $100 on, you’ve got a winner. The reason why? A $100 resource in exchange for contact details seems like a total steal to your audience. It would feel wrong for them NOT to grab it off of you. 3/ Solves pain points Finally, the lead magnet MUST solve one of your customer’s nagging pain points. If your lead magnet doesn’t solve a current issue or make something easier - how can they trust that your DFY offer will do the same? The short answer is, they won’t. Takeaway here: Lead magnets are one of the most powerful lead gen techniques you could be using right now. Our clients have used them to book 10+ calls in a singular post - And close 10-20k MRR off the back of that. If you want to start doing the same with viral lead mags, ask yourself these 3 questions: 1 - How actionable is it? 2 - How much would someone pay for this? 3 - Does it solve any nagging pain points for my ICP? Lead magnets can be the most powerful lever in your business to book more calls if you can nail these 3.

7 Lead Magnets That Actually Worked for Me Let’s talk about lead magnets. Everyone says “provide value,” but most lead magnets fall flat. They’re either too generic, too long, or too boring to care about. If your download button isn’t converting, chances are your magnet isn’t magnetic. Here’s what has worked for me, based on real campaign results: 1. Free Tools or Calculators - These perform well because they deliver value instantly. - Think ROI calculators, website graders, energy savings tools. - You’re not just asking for an email, you’re solving a real problem right away. 2. Niche Templates or Swipe Files The more specific, the better. Instead of a general checklist, give people plug-and-play materials tailored to their industry. 3. Case Studies with Actual Results - Show outcomes, not just process. - If you helped a client go from £5K to £50K MRR in six months, break down exactly how you did it. - Numbers build credibility. Vague wins like "increased engagement" do not. 4. Mini Email Courses - Short and actionable. - A 3 to 5-part email sequence that teaches something valuable, step by step. - It keeps your brand in their inbox, builds trust over time, and positions you as the go-to expert. 5. Benchmark Reports - People are always wondering how they stack up. - Offer industry data, pricing benchmarks, or conversion rate breakdowns. - If they can compare their performance to competitors, they’ll download it in a heartbeat. 6. Behind-the-Scenes Playbooks - Real SOPs, battle-tested scripts, funnel breakdowns. - Let them peek behind the curtain. - What tools you use, how you structure campaigns, and how your team operates. - Honest, messy, and practical always beats polished and vague. 7. Free Strategy Call (when positioned right) - Not "book a free consultation." That screams sales pitch. - Instead, offer a 15-minute audit or roadmap session that clearly outlines what the lead will walk away with. - It only works when there’s a real problem, and you show up to help, not pitch. 1. The best lead magnets do one thing. 2. They solve a problem your audience already knows they have. i. They don’t waste time. ii. They don’t feel like work. iii. And they make people think, “If this is what they give away for free, I wonder what the paid stuff looks like.” What’s the best or worst lead magnet you’ve ever downloaded? Share it below. I’m building a list of both.

After building 100+ lead magnet landing pages, I've found 7 non-negotiable rules to maximize conversion rates. Let's break them down: RULE 1: The Rule of 1 There's only ONE thing you can do on my landing pages: Opt-in or bounce. There's no navigation bars, blog archives, social media buttons... NADA. All of these are distractions. And distractions = lower opt-in rates. So if you want to increase your opt-in rates, the first thing you should do is follow The Rule of 1—just one CTA. RULE 2: Transformation-Driven Headline If you're reading this, you've probably heard the famous Ogilvy quote before: “On the average, five times as many people read the headline as read the body copy. When you have written your headline, you have spent eighty cents out of your dollar.” Now, even though he said that decades ago (and in the context of paid advertising), this is still true. And it also applies to lead magnet landing pages. But, how do you write a great landing page headline? There's dozens of small nuances—but none of them matter if your headline doesn't promise a tangible & compelling outcome (or transformation). So, keep that in mind next time you're writing a landing page. RULE 3: Objection Busting Now, sometimes making a good promise isn't enough. People have doubts. So, if you want maximize your opt-in rates, make sure to always include an Objection Busting sentence to the end of your headlines. Pro tip: Use smaller font size & italicize your Objection Busting sentence so your "main" headline doesn't get too bulky. RULE 4: Mockup image One of your main goals when creating a landing page like this? To make your lead magnet feel *tangible.* Even make it feel like a product. That's why all of my landing pages always have a high-quality mockup image. Obviously, you can whip up your own mockup images using a tool like Canva. But if you can hire a designer to help you create one, that's even better. (It's worth every penny!) RULE 5: Compelling Lead Magnet Name Another way to make your lead magnets feel more tangible? Name them something! One of my favorite frameworks for this is Hormozi's MAGIC formula. RULE 6: Tangible Social Proof As we all know, social proof is extremely powerful. Now, when you have limited real estate, one of my favorite ways to add social proof is to add a short blurb with *tangible* social proof. (Instead of adding a "quote testimonial.") See the image below for an example of this! RULE 7: Opt-In Form Above The Fold Lastly, you want to make it as easy as possible for people to opt-in for your lead magnet. And easy means NO scrolling. That's why your opt-in box should always be "above the fold." Pro tip: Check the mobile version of your page to ensure the opt-in box is above the fold there too. And that's it! Now, the question is - which of these rules are you implementing first?
