The cybersecurity certification game has changed dramatically in 2025. After reviewing hundreds of job postings and talking with hiring managers, here's what actually matters now and what's become obsolete. The Big Shifts: Cloud certifications are now commanding 15-20% salary premiums. AWS Security Specialty and Azure Security Engineer aren't optional anymore, they're expected. If you're picking one, follow the money. AWS dominates most markets, but Azure leads in government and enterprise. CISSP remains essential for leadership roles, but timing matters. Early-career professionals with CISSP often get labeled as "title hunters." Save it for when you have 5+ years experience and are eyeing management positions. The surprising winner? Specialized beats generalist every time. Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS) holders are writing their own tickets. OSCP continues to destroy CEH in market value and employers want proof you can hack, not just talk about it. What's Working by Career Stage: Entry Level: Security+ remains your ticket in. Pair it with cloud fundamentals (AWS/Azure) for maximum impact. Cost: ~$400-600 total. ROI: Excellent. Early Career (1-3 years): Go deep, not broad. SOC analysts need CySA+ or GMON. Future pentesters need OSCP. Skip generalist certifications entirely. Mid-Career (3-7 years): Choose your path. Technical track? Advanced cloud security or DevSecOps certs. Leadership track? Start that CISSP journey. Senior (7+ years): CISSP + business acumen wins. Add CISM for GRC roles or maintain technical edge with architect-level cloud certifications. The Reality Check: CEH is dying. Despite appearing in job posts, hiring managers increasingly view it as outdated. Don't waste your money. SANS certifications are incredible but at $7,000+, calculate carefully. Three specialized certifications might open more doors than one premium cert. AI security certifications are mostly hype. Stick with established providers adding AI modules to existing programs. The certification landscape evolves fast, but the principle remains constant: certifications open doors, skills keep them open. Choose credentials that align with where you're going, not where you've been. What's your certification strategy for 2025? Are you going deep in a specialty or building breadth? #Cybersecurity #Certifications #CareerDevelopment #InfoSec #CloudSecurity #TechCareers

Don't burn your GI Bill on certifications. Many of these certifications are free for veterans. I’ve seen too many people spend their GI Bill or pay out of pocket, only to find out later they could have gotten those same certs for free. Huge mistake. Don't be one of them. If you're active duty, transitioning, a veteran, or a military spouse, you have access to free certifications and training programs. Take advantage. Here are some worth knowing: 𝐀𝐂𝐓 𝐍𝐨𝐰 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐚 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭 → One full year free → 27 professional certificates → 12,000+ courses from Google, IBM, AWS, and more → https://lnkd.in/eGG4_Rgm 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 / 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝 → Free Salesforce training and certification exams → https://lnkd.in/gqjJfcBn 𝐎𝐧𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐎𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 / 𝐎𝟐𝐎 → 36 professional certifications across IT, cyber, cloud, and business → https://qrco.de/o2ocert 𝐕𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 / 𝐕𝐞𝐭𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 → Cybersecurity, cloud, and IT certifications → https://qrco.de/vitcert 𝐂𝐲𝐛𝐞𝐫𝟒𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐞𝐬 / 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 → Up to 7 cybersecurity certifications with exam vouchers and career support → https://lnkd.in/gFT_9viS 𝐒𝐀𝐍𝐒 𝐂𝐲𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐲 → Competitive GIAC cybersecurity certification opportunities → https://lnkd.in/gGU6DN4E 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐬𝟐𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 → Up to $1,000 toward industry-recognized certifications or professional licenses → Paid directly to the training provider → https://lnkd.in/gMNTu88D 𝐂𝐲𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 / 𝐂𝐖𝐂𝐓 → CompTIA and EC-Council certifications at no cost → https://qrco.de/cwct 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝 𝐕𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬 → AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud training and certification prep → https://qrco.de/cloudvet 𝐍𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 → No-cost IT training and certifications in multiple states → https://qrco.de/npower 𝐏𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐬 → Free tech training with industry certifications and career support → https://qrco.de/perscholas 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐤 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 → Data and cybersecurity certifications → https://lnkd.in/gyguXZU7 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐆𝐏𝐓 𝐏𝐥𝐮𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 → 1 year free for eligible transitioning service members and veterans → https://lnkd.in/gEM83Fcy Before you pay out of pocket, check these first. Indonesia is at a 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 where sustainability, workforce readiness, and economic growth must come together. The challenge is not a lack of talent but a lack of structured, industry-driven training that meets global standards. With 3.9 million green jobs projected by 2030, the urgency to equip the workforce with future-ready, globally recognized skills has never been greater. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗢𝗖𝗜𝗙𝗬 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 is more than just a training initiative - it is a movement. By directly aligning with industry needs and integrating internationally accredited certification, VOCIFY ensures that its graduates are regionally and globally competitive, opening doors to employment not only in Indonesia but across ASEAN and beyond. But economic growth cannot come at the cost of inclusivity. VOCIFY ensures that women and people with disabilities are not just included but prioritized. Through targeted apprenticeships, adaptive learning environments, and industry-backed mentorship, VOCIFY creates equitable access to high-growth and enhance their social mobility and economic opportunity. For too long, vocational training has been undervalued, trapping millions in low-wage, low-mobility jobs. VOCIFY is breaking this cycle, embedding circular economy principles, digital transformation, and sustainability practices into structured, multi-level training programs. This ensures that graduates move beyond entry-level positions into career paths with long-term social mobility. By earning 𝗨𝗞-𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, graduates gain credentials that are recognized not just locally, but across ASEAN markets, enhancing workforce mobility and global employability. This collaboration is a blueprint for private-to-private partnerships that drive real change in workforce development. They are not just employed but empowered. The Facility Management (FM) industry is uniquely positioned to lead this transformation. With sustainability at its core, FM companies must take proactive ownership of workforce development. Investing in green skills and internationally accredited certification is not CSR. It is a business strategy. Companies that fail to integrate green operational practices, circular economy principles, and workforce sustainability into their core business will fall behind in global competitiveness, regulatory compliance, and investor confidence. The time for waiting is over. VOCIFY is opening the door to a new era of workforce transformation. It is up to us to step through it. 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗼𝗼𝗿. 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆. • Short-term credentials can have inconsistent outcomes and not enough data on those outcomes. However, recent research from Lindsay Daugherty and her team adds to that data with a focus on Indiana. The data shows that Hoosiers earned 25,301 credit certificates in 2021, up from just 3,888 in 2010, thanks to statewide investments and initiatives like the Indiana College Core (ICC). Key insights from the study: ➡️ Over 70% of certificate earners stack additional credentials within three years, often in the same field. ➡️ On average, earning a certificate boosts quarterly earnings by 20% (~$4,700 per year), though overall earnings remain low. ➡️ Disparities persist—Black certificate earners are less likely to stack credentials, and women are overrepresented in lower-earning fields. ➡️ Success was driven by a clear vision, targeted funding, robust program approvals, and alignment across education, training, and industry. This evidence offers valuable guidance for decision-makers looking to refine and expand short-term credentialing strategies. Short-term programs aren’t a silver bullet, but increased funding and policy support can help unlock greater potential. The future of the peer workforce depends on who can enter it. Often the passion is there, but the barriers are too high. The peer workforce was built by people who experienced exclusion — from healthcare systems, housing systems, and often the labor market itself. Yet in many states, becoming certified requires high training fees and exam costs, and sometimes restrictive background screenings or educational requirements. For someone early in recovery or rebuilding financially, that pathway can be out of reach. If we want to expand the workforce, we have to protect the entry pipeline. That means employers and funders should support: • Certification scholarships and workforce entry grants • Low-income fee waivers • Paid apprenticeship models • Fair-chance hiring practices that avoid blanket exclusions • Reimbursement structures that allow employers to invest in workforce development Workforce growth without accessibility risks narrowing the field to those who already have financial stability and structural advantage. ➡️ What policies have you seen that help — or hinder — access to peer certification? #recovery #peersupport #mentalhealth #addiction #substanceuse #accessibility #equity #peerworkforce #employment #training #waiver #health #treatment #clinical #certification

The federal government just released a proposed rule that will fundamentally change how agencies procure cybersecurity services, mandating the NICE Cybersecurity Workforce Framework for all federal contracts involving IT support and cybersecurity services. This standardization promises benefits but also raises significant concerns for industry. The framework's benefits are compelling: it creates a common language for cybersecurity work, simplifies agency requirement understanding, aligns training programs with government needs, reduces proposal confusion, and establishes more precise career paths. However, beneath these advantages lie substantial challenges, particularly for small businesses. While the government estimates only 20 hours for "regulatory familiarization," the reality is more complex. Companies face comprehensive overhauls that may not get enough attention, such as retraining BD teams, rewriting capability statements, updating job descriptions, modifying deliverables, and restructuring teams. The costs extend beyond compliance into training, consulting, and increased proposal preparation. Further, the transition presents its own hurdles. Existing contracts may need modification, performance metrics require realignment, and staff certifications need updating. More concerning are the potential unintended consequences, such as further increased barriers to entry for a shrinking industrial base, further market consolidation as smaller players exit the market and further exacerbate the problem, increased competition for cleared cyber talent driving up costs, and the risk that standardization might stifle innovation that doesn't fit neatly into prescribed categories. To prepare, companies should start mapping positions to NICE Framework roles and updating documentation now. The comment period, open until March 4, 2025, provides a crucial opportunity for industry feedback. Organizations need to budget for implementation costs and consider strategic partnerships. While standardization promises long-term benefits, the implementation challenges cannot be understated. Small businesses may find compliance particularly challenging. Success will depend on how well the government addresses these practical concerns during the comment period and supports the transition. I encourage companies in the cybersecurity industry to comment and ensure that these issues, and other issues, are raised and addressed. #Cybersecurity #FederalContracting #NICEFramework #GovCon #SmallBusiness

🎄𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲’𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 — I hope if they are struggling this holiday season, they know that there are people out there who understand and are thinking about them.🎄 There is a federally funded workforce program that can 𝗽𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝟭𝟬𝟬% 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 — including PMP or CAPM prep — with no out-of-pocket cost. Yes. Really. It’s called WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act), and it’s designed to help people skill up and change careers. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gdUvAP_N Here’s who this often applies to (not exhaustive, but common): • Unemployed or recently laid off • Underemployed or stuck in part-time work • Career changers • Veterans & military spouses • Individuals receiving public assistance • People facing barriers to employment In many cases, WIOA funds can cover the full cost of approved PMP or CAPM training programs through providers like Blue Summit ⚠️ Important reality check (because I won’t mislead you): • WIOA can fund training and prep, but PMI still controls certification eligibility • For PMP, you must still meet PMI’s experience requirements (this does not get waived) • CAPM has fewer barriers and is often a great on-ramp if you’re early-career But if cost has been the thing holding you back? This could remove that barrier entirely. 🎁 Consider this a Christmas present you didn’t know existed. 🎄 And maybe the one someone in your network desperately needs. If you know: • a veteran struggling with transition • a parent trying to reskill • an unemployed project manager without certifications • a professional stuck and underpaid • someone saying “next year I’ll do it” Please repost this. Opportunities only change lives if people know they exist. Welcome to the Natework. #PMP #CAPM #ProjectManagement #CareerTransition #WIOA #Veterans #CareerChange #FreeTraining #ChristmasPost #Natework #fyp

🚀 Unlocking Europe's Skills Potential: EU's Skills Portability Initiative 👉 https://lnkd.in/dDY2adA8 🇪🇺 The European Commission has launched a Call for Evidence for the upcoming Skills Portability Initiative — a major step toward making skills and qualifications truly recognisable, trusted and usable across borders. This matters enormously for VET, employers, and anyone navigating today’s fluid labour markets. 📢 What’s is proposed and why it matters: ▪️A comprehensive EU package aiming to boost labour mobility, reduce skills shortages, and build the Union of Skills. ▪️Clear ambition: ensure skills are portable, digital, and understood wherever they go — essential for a modern skills ecosystem. 🧭 Key Themes & Messages 🌐 Digital, portable credentials ▪️Push for interoperable EU-wide digital credentials for qualifications, micro-credentials and skills. ▪️Supports easier job matching, transparency and trust between countries and employers. 📘 Stronger transparency of skills ▪️All Member States could operate comprehensive NQFs, linked to the EQF and feeding data into EU platforms. ▪️Better visibility of skills acquired informally or non-formally — vital for VET learners and adult upskilling. ⚖️ Modernised recognition of qualifications ▪️Simplification of procedures under the Professional Qualifications Directive. ▪️Extension of automatic recognition to more professions. ▪️Digital tools to reduce delays, costs and inconsistencies. 🌍 Third-country nationals & talent attraction ▪️EU-wide rules to simplify recognition of qualifications from outside the EU — crucial for sectors under pressure (healthcare, long-term care, construction, ICT). ▪️Potential “approved lists” of foreign qualifications meeting EU standards. 🤝 SMEs and workforce development ▪️Easier access to trusted digital credentials helps SMEs recruit faster and reduce administrative burden. ▪️Supports better use of Europe’s talent pool and addresses mismatch between supply and demand. 💬 My take ▪️Having worked for more than 3 decades at the European Commission and on European VET policy, I see this initiative as a turning point. ▪️Too often, VET learners’ skills remain “invisible” across borders. A unified, digital, trustworthy system can: ✅ elevate the status and mobility of vocational pathways, ✅ empower workers to transition between roles, sectors and countries, ✅ strengthen Europe’s competitiveness by valuing skills wherever they were acquired. 🎯 It’s also a chance for the VET community — providers, employers, regulators, social partners — to help shape a system that finally matches the realities of the modern labour market. 📣 A call to engage This consultation is a unique opportunity to influence a future where skills truly travel. I encourage all VET and skills stakeholders to contribute to this call. #SkillsPortability #SkillsAgenda #LifelongLearning #FutureOfWork
