    AI is not just a technological revolution - it is a policy revolution. Here is my perspective on how AI will reshape public sector policies in the next 10 years. Enhanced governance and decision-making: Governments will increasingly rely on AI-powered data analytics to make real-time, evidence-based decisions. Predictive analytics will help policymakers anticipate economic shifts, public health crises, and climate change impacts, enabling proactive interventions. The UAE AI Strategy 2031 mandates 100% AI adoption in government for data-driven decision-making, ensuring more effective governance. Revolutionizing Public Services: From healthcare and education to transportation, AI-powered solutions are making public services smarter and more accessible. The UAE is leading the way in generative AI, with Dubai AI acting as a virtual city concierge, assisting citizens and businesses. Additionally, the UAE government has started integrating AI-driven search capabilities into its official websites, enabling faster, more relevant information retrieval for users. The Agentic AI revolution has just begun and I believe we will see more AI-powered public services as AI adoption matures and as we resolve current limitations and challenges with generative AI such as inaccuracy and unreliability. Transformation of Labor Markets: AI will automate repetitive tasks but also create demand for new skills, particularly in data analytics, cybersecurity, and AI ethics. Governments worldwide are investing in reskilling programs to future-proof their workforce. The UAE is ahead of the curve, launching a major reskilling initiative in 2024 in collaboration with Microsoft, aiming to train 100,000 government employees on AI. Ethical & Inclusive AI Policies: With AI becoming more pervasive, governments must ensure its ethical and responsible use. Over the next decade, public policies will focus on regulating AI development, ensuring it serves all citizens equitably and does not reinforce biases or inequalities. AI for Sustainability: Governments will leverage AI to combat climate change, optimize energy consumption, and develop green technologies. However, the sustainability dilemma of AI itself - including its energy-intensive computational requirements - must also be addressed to ensure AI is part of the solution, not the problem. Global Collaboration on AI Governance: AI governance cannot be tackled in isolation. The WGS 2025 and other international forums highlight the urgent need for global cooperation in setting AI standards, sharing best practices, and addressing risks such as AI safety, misinformation, and environmental impact. The next decade will determine whether governments can harness AI to build more efficient, inclusive, and sustainable societies. The UAE is already paving the way, but global collaboration, innovation, and responsible governance will be essential in shaping the AI-powered public sector of the future. #WGS25 #LinkedInNewsMiddleEast

  • When a government makes bold moves, it’s worth paying attention.    Singapore’s world-first agentic AI governance framework and one-billion-dollar investment in public AI research signals a new way forward for the region. The message is clear, AI is no longer experimental, it is central to the nation’s and to business competitiveness.   But with greater AI importance, comes greater responsibility. From its beginnings as assistive technology, AI is now working in agentic systems that can decide, act and adapt autonomously. This means governance can no longer be an afterthought. Oversight, accountability and transparency must be built in from the start so trust grows alongside innovation.   What lessons can be taken away from this move? Leaders needs to start asking themselves, who owns each AI decision? What are the boundaries? How do we prove it works as intended? When these answers are clear, teams move faster, smarter and safer. Diverse regulations, cultures and risk appetites across ASEAN mean effective AI governance must be built in from day one. Ignoring this only increases the cost, complexity and risk in the long run. AI brings speed and scale, but humans must remain accountable for intent, approvals and critical decisions. Outcomes must be measured, not assumed.   As our region explores the potential of agentic AI, trust, accountability and alignment will unlock its real value.

    🚗 Autonomous mobility is no longer a distant promise. Europe is now bringing it into our cities. As a Digital EU Ambassador, I welcome the launch of ADACities (Autonomous Drive Ambition Cities), a new European Commission initiative designed to help selected EU cities deploy autonomous-driving solutions in real urban environments. 💥 This is about much more than self-driving cars. It is about autonomous shuttles improving first and last-mile transport. Robo-taxis and shared vehicles making mobility more accessible. Better traffic management. Safer roads. Cleaner air. More efficient public transport networks, including for peri-urban communities that are too often left behind. 📢 By 2030, participating cities are expected to target fleets of at least 100 autonomous vehicles. That ambition matters because Europe cannot simply observe while other regions scale autonomous mobility, AI platforms, connected vehicles and mobility data ecosystems. We need European cities to become places where innovation is tested responsibly, deployed progressively and designed around people. 💢 What I find particularly important is that ADACities is not only a mobility initiative. It is also a strategic sovereignty initiative. Autonomous mobility depends on AI, semiconductors, cloud infrastructure, data, cybersecurity and trusted digital ecosystems. Europe must ensure that these critical layers are not merely imported, but developed through strong European industrial capabilities and partnerships. ❌ Of course, technology alone will not create trust. Cities will need clear governance, strong cybersecurity, transparent rules, human oversight and meaningful dialogue with citizens. The objective should never be to remove humans from mobility. It should be to create mobility that is safer, cleaner, more inclusive and more intelligent. The race is not simply about deploying more autonomous vehicles. This expansion demonstrates the versatility and broad applicability of AI-driven solutions in diverse urban environments.
