SEO is now becoming AEO (Answer Engine Optimization)? Recently, while working on the digital marketing vertical of my company, I started asking: how has SEO really changed since the advent of AI? A new study by Profound analyzed 680 million citations across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews (Aug 2024 – Jun 2025). Key findings: -ChatGPT: authority-first. Wikipedia alone makes up 47.9% of its top 10 citations. -Perplexity: community-first. Reddit dominates with 46.7%. -Google AI Overviews: balanced. Reddit (21%), YouTube (18.8%), and Quora (14.3%). Domain type matters too: - 80%+ of ChatGPT’s sources come from .com - .org accounts for ~11% - .ai and .io are slowly gaining traction So what should businesses do? → Develop a Platform-Specific Strategy: What works for ChatGPT (authority content) will not work for Perplexity (community-driven). → Diversify Distribution: Do not just rely on Google. Spread across LinkedIn, Reddit, YouTube, Quora. → Prioritize Community Engagement: Especially on Reddit and professional networks. → Strengthen Domain Authority: Maintain a strong presence on .com and .org, and for tech brands, consider .ai and .io. → Adopt a Nuanced Approach: Both the quality and the quantity of citations matter. The takeaway: Traditional SEO was about ranking on Google’s “10 blue links.” As more people lean on AI for answers, they will replace scrolling through links with checking the top cited resources from LLMs. While doing SEO, you also need to do AEO (Answer Engine Optimization), making sure your brand is visible when AI platforms generate answers, not just when Google shows results. What do you think? Is AEO the next big shift in digital marketing? Find the full report link in the comments below!

I've run a lot of brand workshops for charities over the years - there tends to be 6 things that underpin a good brand. Choosing the right shade of purple isn't one of them. 🔭 Vision - What does the world look like that you want to help create? WHY do you do what you do? 'Carers UK wants a society that recognises, values and supports carers.' - Carers UK 💪 Mission -What do you do to work towards your vision for change? Know what you deliver and why. 'Our mission is to improve the lives of refugees and the efficiency of humanitarian services by eliminating language barriers.' - Tarjimly 👨👩👦👦 Values - Those words on the wall-graphic of your staff kitchen might be your org's real values. Often they're not. Do they reflect the everyday work and decisions of your teams? If not, it's time to re-think them. To accompany your values you may also want to explore the principles that underpin your work. Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)'s principles drive everything they do - Google it. 👁️🗨️ Audiences - Personas created in a vacuum are a nonsense. Spend time actually getting to know your users, supporters, volunteers, members and staff. How will they shape your brand? 😸 Personality - Think about your voice, visuals, how you want to be perceived, what your services are actually like for users and how you want to make people feel. A fun way to start conversations around this is doing a simple personality sliding-scale exercise across teams and the people you work for/with. 🗺 Market - 'Competitor' is often a dirty word in the third sector but does your charity actually understand where it sits? Below is deliberately simplistic but hopefully you get the idea. Cancer Research UK (CRUK) - Finding a cure for cancer Macmillan Cancer Support - Helping people live with cancer Marie Curie UK - Providing end of life cancer care ❓ What have I missed? When it comes to brand what's important to you?

A concise explanation of each pointer from Sanjay Chakraborty’s “In a Nutshell” framework, contextualised for nonprofits and CSR funds-seeking organisations. He was speaking at the Ahmedabad Management Association-AMA conclave on CSR. ✅ Decide the Objective of Communication Clearly define what you want to achieve- awareness, fundraising, advocacy, or community engagement, so every message aligns with your mission. ✅ Identify the Target Audience Know whom you’re speaking to, corporates, donors, media, or community stakeholders, to ensure your communication is relevant and relatable. Identify the Touch Points ✅ Map out where and how your audience interacts with your brand, events, digital platforms, media coverage, or partnerships so you can create consistent impressions. ✅Allocate Budget / Available Budget Assess your financial resources and allocate them strategically across channels to maximise impact without overspending. ✅ Plan & Choose Medium / Tool of Communication Select the right mix of tools, social media, storytelling videos, reports, influencer collaborations, etc., based on audience behaviour and budget. ✅ Craft Meaningful & Creative Communication Your message must stand out, be honest, emotionally compelling, and visually engaging to earn trust and attention in a crowded space. This framework urges nonprofits to think like brands: be intentional, be visible, and be compelling to earn CSR partnerships.

Search is splitting in five directions Here’s how to play all of them: Let’s zoom out for a second. SEO is a channel. It belongs inside your marketing strategy. Marketing is a function. It supports your growth goals — but it’s not the whole system. Growth is the system. It’s how you connect visibility, investment, engagement, monetization, and outcomes across the entire business. And when a key channel like Organic is in flux, the entire growth system feels it. AI is changing SEO — fast. Only those who adapt will survive. That’s why having a clear framework to keep up matters. Thanks to Chris Donnelly for the modern discovery stack. Super informative. 1. SEO = Search Engine Optimization Google rankings. The original play. ✅ Great for: high-intent queries ❌ But: slow to show results, crowded, favors incumbents → Target bottom-funnel keywords → Use clean structure, strong internal linking → Focus on pages that convert, not just rank 📌 Content has always been the core of SEO. 2. AEO = Answer Engine Optimization This is the zero-click world. Google answers directly — no site visit needed. ✅ Great for: quick answers, voice search ❌ But: you lose the funnel → Write in 40–60 word blocks → Use schema markup (FAQ, How-To) → Format answers with bullets and clear headers 📌 AEO gets you found even when you don’t get the click. 3. GEO = Generative Engine Optimization ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini — the engines write the answer. Your job? Be the source. ✅ Great for: influencing research and recommendations ❌ But: hard to track, low control → Get cited on Reddit, Quora, niche blogs → Use entity-based content: frameworks, stats, facts → Prioritize structure over voice 📌 GEO shifts your visibility from pages to presence. 4. AIO = AI Optimization This is long-game brand building inside the model itself. ✅ Great for: being “known” by the AI ❌ But: takes time, no short-term feedback → Publish to structured datasets (Wikidata, GitHub, public docs) → Use consistent naming, product positioning, and descriptions → Make your content easy for machines to read and store 📌 AIO builds memory. Not just reach. 5. SXO = Search Experience Optimization This is the conversion layer. What happens after discovery. ✅ Great for: turning traffic into outcomes ❌ But: needs fast loops across product, UX, and content → Align landing pages to search intent → Optimize speed, clarity, mobile flow → Test CTA, layout, next steps 📌 SXO is where visibility becomes revenue. To scale, you need to connect the full stack: → SEO feeds marketing → Marketing feeds growth → Growth turns traffic into business outcomes Organic has always sat at the heart of brand, product, and performance -  and AI only raises the stakes * * * I talk about the real mechanics of growth, data, and execution. If that’s what you care about, let’s connect.

Everyone thinks keyword rankings are dead because of AI. This is fundamentally wrong. Here's how to use them to win AEO: Here's the data that'll change your mind. Traditional search still drives 60%+ more traffic than AI platforms. High Google rankings have a massive overlap with AI visibility: ↳ Perplexity cites 82% from Google's top 10 ↳ AI Overviews pull 67% from top rankings ↳ ChatGPT references 28% from high-ranking pages Nail your keyword rankings, win at AI search too. Most people are still using 2020 ranking strategies in 2025. Here's what actually works now: 1. Track Like a Pro (Not Like a Beginner) Use Google Search Console for the basics: → Shows average position across 1,000+ queries → Reveals which keywords drive actual traffic → Completely free (no excuses) But if you're serious, upgrade to Position Tracking: → Daily ranking updates → Competitor monitoring → AI visibility tracking → Custom alerts when rankings move 2. Create Content That Crushes Competition Study the top 10 results and ask: → What depth are they missing? → Where are the content gaps? → How can I add unique value? Then implement E-E-A-T like your business depends on it: → Experience: Share first-hand, real-world experience → Expertise: Interview subject matter experts → Authoritativeness: Conduct original research and cite trusted sources → Trustworthiness: Build credibility through transparency and accuracy 3. Satisfy Search Intent Four types of intent in 2025: → Informational (how-to guides) → Navigational (brand searches) → Commercial (comparison content) → Transactional (ready to buy) Match your content format to the intent. A product page won't rank for "how to" queries. 4. Refresh Content Strategically Find pages that used to rank well but dropped off. Update with: → Fresh statistics and data → New screenshots/examples → Improved formatting → Additional visual elements Even small updates can resurrect dead rankings. 5. Build Links That Actually Matter Quality > quantity, always. Focus on: → Industry publications → Partner websites → Guest posting on authority sites → Creating linkable assets (studies, tools) 6. Fix Technical Issues Use Site Audit tools to catch: → Page speed problems → Mobile-unfriendly pages → Broken internal links → Missing schema markup Google can't rank what it can't properly crawl. The bottom line? Keyword rankings aren't dead. They're evolved. Have you started optimising for AI search? I'd love to read your thoughts in the comments. 👇 P.S. SEO isn’t dead. But it’s definitely evolved. (Save this if your 2020 strategy feels outdated in 2025.) Most people still optimize for rankings. But AI Search doesn’t rank; you get chosen, not listed. This shift has a name: AIO (AI Optimization) And it's changing the entire playbook. If you're still chasing head terms and backlinks blindly, you're not just outdated… You're invisible to LLMs. I ran a deep dive into what still works (and what doesn’t) in AI Search—and here’s your 5-minute update: ✅ What still works? → Fast, mobile-friendly, crawlable pages → Topic clusters and internal linking → Clear, helpful writing that answers user questions → Schema markup and structured data → FAQs, how-to guides, and modular content ❌ What doesn’t work anymore? → Keyword stuffing without real user value → Fluffy content built for bots, not humans → Broad terms like “CRM” with no context → Blind backlink chasing → Ignoring tone, nuance, and user mindset Here’s how to fix it fast ↓ 🧠 Think like an LLM. → Structure content with clear H2s that ask the question. → Answer it clearly underneath. No fluff or BS. → Target ultra-specific, scenario-based queries. → Build “intent clusters” around user needs, not just keywords. 🔧 Tools I use (free tiers and 14-day free trials available): → Semrush Keyword Magic Tool → Semrush AI Toolkit → Semrush Content Toolkit 📌 The takeaway: → SEO was about getting found. → AIO is about being chosen and cited by AI. It’s not about “rankings” anymore. It’s about relevance, clarity, and trust. 💬 Want the full swipe file + my AIO checklist? Drop “AIO” below, and I’ll send my AIO and GEO vault. 📥 Save this for your next content update. ♻️ Repost if you’ve seen traffic drop post-AI Overviews. 🤜 Follow Anish Singh Walia for AI × GEO/AIO playbooks that scale in 2025 and onwards.

If you’re only optimizing for Google SEO… You’re missing out on where visibility is actually shifting. Most marketers are still treating SEO as if Google is the only playing field. But search is changing. I’ve spent the recent days researching how different AI engines... ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude actually surface and cite content. Here’s the common belief I hear everywhere: “ChatGPT is the only AI model that matters.” The reality is more nuanced: ChatGPT = Reach → massive audience, but limited transparency. Perplexity = Traffic → every answer links out to sources. Claude = Authority → cites trustworthy, research-heavy content. That’s why I built this LLM SEO Playbook... To show how each engine rewards different types of content, and how marketers can adapt their strategies. (Check out the full breakdown below) ChatGPT LLM SEO Position: ↳ Broadest reach, but limited transparency. When to optimize: - Target high-volume prompts. - Aim for ChatGPT Search sources. - Use schema and authority signals. Benefits: - Largest user base. - Structured content rewarded. - Strong indirect brand mentions. Drawbacks: - Few visible citations. - ROI difficult to track. - Search still evolving. Perplexity LLM SEO Position: ↳ Most SEO-friendly AI engine, always cites inline. - When to optimize: - Focus on citation-driven traffic. - Target fact and comparison queries. - Prove measurable ROI. Benefits: - Inline citations always visible. - Transparent tracking possible. - Long-form content favored. Drawbacks: - Smaller user base. (Compared to ChatGPT) - Some publisher restrictions. - UX still updating and adapting. Claude LLM SEO Position: ↳ Best for trust-heavy, research-driven content. When to optimize: - Technical explainers and legal content. - Accuracy and methodology-driven queries. - Deep reasoning tasks. Benefits: - Direct citations build credibility. - Rewards authoritative sources. - Strong for long-form SEO. Drawbacks: - Lower reach overall. - Conservative in style. - Needs search enabled. TL;DR ChatGPT = Reach Perplexity = Traffic Claude = Authority This breakdown is backed by research from multiple sources, as this is still a new part of search. I’d love your thoughts... Correct me, Improve it, or share your own insights below. Also, sharing the top tools for LLM-SEO worth learning + testing: Semrush Enterprise AIO / AI Tool-Kit Peec AI Brandlight GrowthX AI AthenaHQ Cognizo Bluefish That’s how you rank and retrieve in 2025 and stay there. ♻️ Repost it to share with your network Follow me Madhav Mistry for insights on marketing

SEO for AI Mode: How to Win in Conversational Search Search is shifting from keywords to conversations. With AI-powered results and conversational search interfaces expanding, users now ask multi-layered questions instead of typing short queries. That changes how content ranks — and how it gets selected. The data: • Conversational queries are significantly longer, often 2–3x traditional keyword length • Informational SERPs with AI-generated summaries show measurable CTR compression • Pages with structured answers and clear entity signals are more frequently surfaced in AI responses Ranking is no longer about matching a keyword. It’s about being the most reliable answer in a dialogue. ⸻ What AI Mode Prioritizes AI-driven search systems favor: • Direct, concise answers at the top of pages • Structured formatting (lists, steps, definitions) • Clear entity associations and topical depth • Demonstrated expertise and consistency across content Thin, surface-level content is increasingly ignored. ⸻ How to Optimize for Conversational Search 1. Answer layered questions Instead of targeting one keyword, address primary + secondary intent within the same piece. 2. Add contextual depth Explain why, how, risks, benefits, and implications — not just definitions. 3. Strengthen topical clusters AI models favor domains that demonstrate breadth across a subject. 4. Improve entity clarity Use consistent terminology, structured headings, and schema to reinforce what your brand is associated with. ⸻ The Strategic Shift Traditional SEO optimized for rankings. AI Mode optimization focuses on: • Being selected • Being cited • Being trusted The brands that adapt will dominate conversational discovery.
