Summary

Mobile customer feedback refers to the process of gathering opinions, experiences, and suggestions from users through mobile apps, devices, or digital platforms. This feedback helps businesses understand customer needs and improve products and services in real time.

  • Ask targeted questions: Focus on specific aspects of the user experience rather than generic rating requests to gain more meaningful responses.
  • Centralize feedback sources: Combine reviews, app comments, chat messages, and survey responses in one location to make it easier to spot patterns and take action.
  • Make it easy: Simplify the feedback process with quick taps, voice notes, or easy-to-access forms so users can share their thoughts without frustration.

Stop sending surveys. Seriously. They're a bad habit that gives you polite, sanitized data, not real insights. I found a way to get a 78% response rate and honest feedback by doing the exact opposite of what every marketing book recommends. Here are 5 customer research methods that beat surveys every single time: 1) WhatsApp Voice Notes > Written Surveys: ↳ People speak faster than they type ↳ Emotion comes through in voice tone ↳ No survey fatigue Method: Send a voice note asking ONE specific question "Hey [Name], quick question - what made you choose us over [competitor]?" 2) Watch Usage > Ask About Usage: ↳ What people do ≠ what they say they do ↳ Behavior reveals truth, words reveal intentions Method: Screen recordings + heatmaps show reality Ask: "How often do you use feature X?" → They say "daily" Data shows: Last used 3 weeks ago 3) Churned Customer Calls > Happy Customer Testimonials: ↳ Satisfaction bias makes happy customers less honest ↳ Churned customers have nothing to lose Method: Call customers who cancelled in the last 30 days "What could we have done differently to keep you?" Most brutal, most valuable insights you'll get. 4) Social Media Stalking > Focus Groups: ↳ Real conversations happen on Twitter/LinkedIn ↳ Unfiltered opinions in natural settings Method: Search "[your brand] OR [competitor] OR [problem you solve]" People complaining/praising without knowing you're watching. 5) Customer Success Team Coffee Chats > Executive Surveys: ↳ Front-line teams hear the real feedback daily ↳ Filter gets removed when it's informal Method: Weekly coffee with CS/Sales teams "What are customers actually saying?" Not the sanitized feedback that reaches leadership. The Pattern I've Noticed: The closer you get to natural conversation, the better the insights. → Formal surveys = What customers think you want to hear → Informal chats = What customers actually think My personal favourite: Join Customer WhatsApp Groups/Communities- I have joined discord & reddit communities Don't moderate. Don't participate initially. Just observe. How they talk about problems. What words they use. Their real frustrations. Pure gold for messaging and positioning. The Reality:Most "customer insights" are actually "customer politeness." People won't tell you your product sucks on a formal survey. They will tell their friend on a WhatsApp call. Your job? Be the friend, not the survey. Which method are you going to try first?

Become a great Product Manager with me: Product expert, content creator, author, mentor, and instructor

Following user feedback is a Product Management virtue. Is there an actual way to implement it, between all the noise, bugs, and stakeholder requests? Well… Most teams claim they are customer-driven. Yet the moment you open Zendesk, App Store reviews, survey results, and Slack threads, you instantly remember why everyone quietly avoids this work. Feedback is everywhere, contradictory, emotional, duplicated, and nearly impossible to turn into decisions.  It is chaos disguised as “insights.” This is why the new Amplitude AI Feedback release caught my attention and made it all the easier to decide to partner with them on this update. It successfully connects what users say with what they actually do, in one workflow. No extra tools.  No extra tabs. You see their words, frustrations, and praise. You see their behavior. And AI transforms it into ranked themes, rising trends, top requests, and complaints. Noise turns into clarity. Opinions turn into patterns. Patterns turn into action. And because it is native inside Amplitude, it kills the biggest problem in feedback work: Fragmentation. Everything flows into analytics, session replay, and cohorts, creating a full loop from insight to fix. You can trace why an issue matters, how many users care, how it impacts behavior, and which actions you should take. Finally, a single source of truth for PMs, UX, CX, and marketing. I’m also genuinely impressed with the supported sources of feedback: App Store, Google Play, Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Salesforce Service, Gong, Trustpilot, G2, Reddit, Discord, and X. Slack arrives in Q1, and there will be more! If you ever felt overwhelmed by feedback, this is one of the first attempts I have seen that genuinely solves the operational pain, not just the reporting part. It launches… Today! Take a look: https://lnkd.in/dAJKeTez What was the most successful update you know that came from the product’s users? Let me know in the comments. #productmanagement #productmanager #userfeedback

Finished my workout at cult fit Opened the app. And BOOM, this insanely granular, thoughtful, and ridiculously well-designed feedback screen showed up. Not the usual: “How was your class? ★★★★☆” But a full breakdown of what exactly shaped my experience: ✔ Workout of the Day ✔ Trainer ✔ Cleanliness ✔ Amenities ✔ Centre Manager sub-tags like Intensity, Posture Correction, Clarity, Energy… This is not a feedback form. This is a blueprint for building better products. 💥 5 Product Lessons Cult Fit quietly teaches all of us: 1️⃣ Stop asking generic questions. “Rate your experience” tells you nothing. “Tell me what worked and why” tells you everything. 2️⃣ Make feedback stupidly easy. Tap → tap → tap → submit. No typing. No friction. More responses. Better data. Happy users. 3️⃣ Break the experience into micro-signals. Trainer ≠ Workout ≠ Cleanliness. When you separate them, you stop guessing and start fixing. 4️⃣ Attribute issues to the right owner. Great PMs don’t create noise. They create clarity. 5️⃣ Design feedback like a feature, not a chore. Beautiful UI = higher completion. Higher completion = richer insights. Richer insights = better product. Simple math. Every PM talks about being “customer-obsessed.” Cult Fit actually shows it through this feature 🙌 #UXDesign #ProductManagement #MobileUX #UserExperience #DesignThinking #ProductManager #ProductDesign #UIUX #Design

Your feedback process should act as a funnel, catching data from all the various sources and bringing it into a centralized location. As you get feedback from various sources, it’s helpful to be consistent in what you collect. Capturing data in a handful of key areas is particularly useful, including: >Touchpoint. What was the touchpoint, or where was the customer in their journey? For example, this could be after a repair, or an interaction with customer service. >Objective. What was the customer’s objective? For example, they wanted to get their cable working again. >Experience. What was the actual experience? The cable got repaired but it happened outside the promised window of time. >Emotional impact. What was the emotional impact of this experience? The range you establish could be very satisfied to very unsatisfied, on a scale. I’ve seen alternatives such as very happy to very frustrated. What words best capture emotion in your setting? These factors give you a solid foundation for comparing both structured and unstructured feedback. UL, a global company that provides product testing and certification, made a push to more completely capture the on-the-fly feedback their employees were hearing. They created a simple feedback form inside their CRM system. The link can be accessed quickly by any employee, anytime. For example, they can easily pull up the form from their phone and enter the customer’s feedback. Nate Brown, who spearheaded the effort, said at the time, “This is a complete game-changer in how UL understands customers.” Find more examples here: https://lnkd.in/e-t5Zs2b #customerfeedback #customerexperience #customerservice

    Building 🚧

Poor customer feedback systems = poor customer experience 😩 → Plus, research from Product Marketing Alliance found companies with structured feedback programs see 8-12% higher win rates. Who doesn’t want that... But sending random surveys won't cut it. You need a systematic approach that connects insights to action (and ultimately revenue). — I partnered with the Survicate team for this post (and a series on how I'm using Survicate in my own product) because they’ve built the most complete toolkit for capturing, analyzing, and actioning customer feedback in HubSpot of the integrations I’ve seen. The AI powered research assistant is 🔥 You can also get double the survey responses (for the same price) by emailing 'STUART' to the Survicate team when you signup by the end of April. — Here's a playbook to get started building an automated customer feedback engine in HubSpot (that will increase reviews and escalate problems): 1. Create a condition-based feedback survey in Survicate Question 1: "How happy are you with [product name]?" → Type: Rating Scale (1-5) IF High Scores (4-5): Question 2: "What do you love most about [Product]?" Type: Open text Question 3: "Would you be willing to help others like you by leaving a public review?" Type: Single answer selection IF yes to providing a public review - show thank you screen with link to 3rd party review website. IF no to providing a public review - thank respondent for their time. IF Low Scores (1-3): Question 4: “What is the main reason you aren't satisfied with it?” Type: Open text 2. Set up your automation workflow: ⚡️ Trigger: When the synced property value for your satisfaction rating is updated. → Has completed: Property value changed → Property name is Latest Satisfaction Rating → New value: Latest Satisfaction Rating is known 🛎️ Action 1: Send Slack notification → To channel: #customer-feedback → Message: 💡 New satisfaction score of {{ latest_satisfaction_rating }} submitted 🌴 Branch: check the branches in order → High Scores when “Latest Satisfaction Rating” is: IF High Scores (4-5) 📧 Action 1: Send review request email → To: Enrolled contact → Template: Review request → Email Content: Reference recent score and interest in providing a public review with links to preferred 3rd party review platforms. ✨ Action 2: Add to static list → List name: “Evangelists” → Optional Update lifecycle stage to Evangelist if used* ✅  Action 3: Create task → Title: Case study outreach → Type: Todo → Assign To: Contact Owner → Notes: Reach out to discuss a case study IF Low Scores (1-3) ✅  Action 1: Create task → Title: Engage dissatisfied customer → Type: Email → Assign To: Contact Owner → Notes: Reach out to address customer feedback One Survicate customer using this playbook improved their Trustpilot rating from 4.2 to 4.8 and generated 1,000+ responses in a single day 🔥

Your feedback collection strategy is broken if the industry average of 60% of responses happen on mobile, but your surveys aren't mobile-optimized. Here's what actually works for modern feedback collection: ✅ Design for mobile-first experiences (not desktop afterthoughts) ✅ Capture sentiment alongside ratings - the "why" behind the score ✅ Trigger surveys at key lifecycle moments, not just quarterly ✅ Connect feedback data directly to your CRM records ✅ Automate follow-up actions based on sentiment thresholds ✅ Track journey completion rates, not just satisfaction scores The goal isn't more data - it's actionable insights that drive real-time improvements to customer experiences. #Salesforce #CustomerExperience #CustomerJourney
