People aren’t skipping your flyer because of the algorithm… They’re skipping it because it might not be about them. Here’s what I’ve been noticing: The brands winning aren’t shouting louder… They’re listening better. Studying each platform like a language. And speaking fluently where attention is cheapest. What if ‘more flyers’ is just lazy marketing? Instead of making the same promo flyer for the fifth time this month… Learn what each platform rewards right now: ✅ TikTok: Raw behind-the-scenes, “day in the life,” and voiceover storytelling are booming — even more if it’s under 30 seconds. ✅ Instagram: Carousel posts with bite-sized value (tips, quotes, swipeable mini-guides) are bringing saves and shares. ✅ Facebook: Reels are massively underpriced. A simple food video, customer reaction, or product unboxing can reach thousands with zero spend. ✅ LinkedIn: Casual, unpolished thoughts from real people (not companies) — especially those that challenge “best practices.” ✅ X (Twitter): Fast takes, bold opinions, and threads that summarize complex ideas in simple language. Let me break it down with an example: Let’s say you’re a restaurant, and Mother’s Day is around the corner. Instead of designing a generic “Mothers Special” flyer… You film this as a video: “Hey mothers of Port Moresby — if you’re 30 to 40, juggling a 9-5, and barely have time to give your best to the ‘famous mom’s home-cooked meal’ — oh do we have the perfect family deal for you. This Mother’s Day, let us serve you for a change. You pick the seat, we’ll bring the feast... etc etc etc” Why video? Because attention stops for a face, a voice, and a story. Because tone connects deeper than text ever will. And because today’s AI-driven algorithms are smarter than ever. They detect who you’re speaking to in that hook — “Hey mothers of Port Moresby…” And they push it organically to the exact people you’re trying to reach. That’s not just content. That’s contextual marketing. Platform-native. Audience-aware. Emotion-first. This matters. Because you’re not just competing with the restaurant next door… You’re competing with every swipe of every thumb. Don’t ask how often you’re posting. Ask how well you’re playing the platform. P.s Meanwhile…. If your flyer had feelings, bet it would’ve applied for a job on Canva by now. ♻️ Hey btw, do repost this if you found value!

I talked to several DTC brands in the last 10 days that told me SMS marketing performance was significantly down this BFCM compared to last year... here is a fix guaranteed to increase performance and lower unsubscribes in 2025👇 Inject better customer data into your SMS platform 👉 Guided selling funnels SMS has become one of the most saturated marketing channels in just a matter of years in DTC eCommerce. I think its awesome — and I believe whole heartedly in the channel having spent years in SMS marketing. However, while brand and consumer of adoption of SMS has risen, true personalization has not. Enter guided selling funnels as the fix. Guided selling funnels, also known as "quizzes", are high converting eCommerce funnels that ask shoppers a series of questions about their interests and preferences and pair them with the with products for seamless check out. On average, they increase conversion by over 300%. Quiz funnels handle purchase objections, develops a customer relationship, and most importantly for SMS, gives the brand a VAST amount of zero party data to connect with their customer in future marketing experiences. It's quite literally "marketing funnel efficiency". 💡 In fact, a brand putting a first time shopper going through a Digioh experience can capture over 50 unique points of zero and first party data to use to send personalized texts. Any brand who is not pushing this into segmentation for their campaigns automations is missing out Here are a few examples of vanilla texts brands send 😒 Coffee brand: "Shop all coffees now" Athleisure brand: "Check out our best sellers" Men's Grooming Brand: "Shop grooming products" 🔑 And here's how it becomes highly relevant by using quiz funnels and pushing that data into SMS ☕️ A coffee brand learns a shopper likes dark roast, whole beans, and usually buys 5lb bags. They uses that data to say: "shop whole bean dark roast coffee". 🏀 An athleisure brand knows a shopper is shopping for their husband, prefers dry-fit clothing, and likes neutral colors. They can retarget the shopper with "Get your husband the all new performance wear". " 🪮A mens grooming brand knows a shopper likes sandalwood, has sensitive skin, and doesn't like multi-step routines. - They can then text the shopper with, "Try the all new sandalwood face wash for one step results". Instant meh to great — and this can all be done easily within any SMS platform. SMS lives and dies by right message right time and having better data ensures a message can actually connect. With how expensive it can be to acquire an SMS subscriber and then retarget them with campaigns... relevancy matters. SMS doesn't need to be vanilla when paired with zero party data! As someone who cut their teeth in sms marketing… I couldn’t be more pumped to help Digioh customers do this at scale within platforms like Klaviyo, Postscript, Yotpo, Attentive, Braze, etc... to make texts that consumers want in their inbox!

Trying hard is nice, but wins and losses in business are measured by results. We helped a client increase app downloads by 300%. My formula for success is always the same, but it is constantly adjusted to meet the needs of specific products and services. We helped a major food chain increase app traffic by 550%, driving a 300% rise in downloads. Here's how: Our client, a well-known national food and beverage chain, needed to improve their search rankings and boost the visibility of their Rewards Program and mobile app. Key challenges included: - Boosting organic traffic to critical, high-conversion pages - Navigating through a complex organizational structure - Standing out in a highly competitive market Our Strategy We crafted a multi-faceted approach: 1. Technical SEO We ran a full audit to improve site speed, ensured mobile-friendly design, and added schema markup to optimize local listings and the mobile app. 2. Keyword Research & Content Optimization Using targeted research, we identified valuable keywords relevant to loyalty programs and mobile apps, then optimized meta titles, descriptions, and page headers. We also created fresh, SEO-rich content to cover these key topics. 3. Local SEO Enhancements We optimized Google My Business listings for all locations, developed custom location pages with calls-to-action (CTAs) for the app and Rewards Program, and secured local backlinks through community sponsorships and directories. 4. App Store Optimization We researched app-specific keywords, improved titles and descriptions, upgraded visual assets, and engaged with users for reviews and feedback in the app store. 5. Link Building & Digital PR We launched a PR campaign and worked with influencers and bloggers to promote the Rewards Program and mobile app, resulting in high-quality backlinks from reputable sources. 6. Social Media Integration Our targeted campaigns on social media drove traffic to key pages. We also encouraged customers to share their experiences on social platforms, increasing brand credibility and helping boost search rankings. The Results - 400% increase in traffic to the Rewards Program page - 550% increase in traffic to the mobile app page - 200% improvement in organic visibility for key app and loyalty-related terms - 300% increase in app downloads - 275% rise in social media referral traffic - 45% improvement in user engagement (time on site) from social media Conclusion This case study showcases how combining effective SEO with a strong social media plan can yield exceptional results. By driving high-quality, engaged users to optimized pages, we saw substantial increases in traffic, visibility, and overall performance across key metrics.

Imagine getting a burger from Burger King for 1 cent, but only on one condition: you need to go to McDonald's first. Sounds weird right? This was exactly the genius behind Burger King’s “Whopper Detour” campaign in December 2018. They wanted to drive app downloads and increase sales of its flagship product, the Whopper. But instead of a typical discount or promotion, they came up with this interesting idea. They used geofencing technology to detect when a customer was within 600 feet of a McDonald's. Once the customer reached near a McDonald’s, the app would direct users to the nearest Burger King to redeem the offer. The results were staggering: 📍 App downloads increased from 2 million to 6 million. 📍 300% increase in BK app sales during the 9-day promotion. 📍 200% sustained increase in app sales post-promotion. 📍 Highest foot traffic in 4.5 years. Why it worked: ↳ They leveraged curiosity and the allure of a great deal. ↳ They created a memorable, shareable experience. ↳ They drove app adoption. Sometimes, the most effective marketing strategies are those that dare to be different. By turning their biggest competitor's locations into their own promotional tools, Burger King created a campaign that was impossible to ignore. What unconventional marketing strategies have caught your attention recently? Let me know in the comments!

Apple's "Shot on iPhone" didn’t even cost them a dollar but it might be the most brilliant marketing move of our generation. In 2015, Instead of hiring celebrities or professional photographers to showcase their iPhone camera, they did something beautiful: Take great photos with your iPhone, share them with the hashtag #ShotoniPhone, and the best ones might end up on billboards across the world. What started as a small campaign featuring 77 photographers quickly exploded. Apple began displaying these user photos on massive billboards across countries. Regular people suddenly saw their work showcased to millions. With this Apple built a community of users who marketed their product for free - and with far more authenticity. And this simple UGC campaign turned out to be a massive success:  → Over 6.5 billion people saw these user-created ads  → More than 95% of all mentions about the campaign were positive  → The hashtag #ShotoniPhone has now been used in over 30 million Instagram posts Think about the psychology: When you see a stunning photo taken by a regular person, two things happen in your mind:  1. You believe the iPhone camera must truly be incredible  2. You start thinking "I could take photos like that too" For tech brands, this reveals a powerful truth: Your best marketer is never a celebrity with 10 million followers, it’s your satisfied user who genuinely loves your product. Build something remarkable, give people a platform to share their experience, and watch your customers sell your product themselves… #Tech #Brand #Marketing

Ryan Reynolds built Mint Mobile’s $1.3B revenue on humour and contrast. Here’s why they work. His marketing follows 3 key principles: → Contrarian hooks spark curiosity → US vs Them strategy positions Mint as an underdog → Humour makes everything memorable One ad flips wireless pricing on its head: 'Big wireless raises prices due inflation. We deflate ours… because we don’t hate you.' Instead of ending with happy customer, they close with an angry goat. Unexpected. Funny. Unforgettable. Value? Clear and consistent: low price, good service. Costs? Minimised. Reynolds reduces PERCEIVED risk while maximising benefits. Fast. Easy. Reliable. Even his simplest ads do better than 90% of today's brands $500 stock footage ties their budget-conscious branding directly production. Cheap works well… if done smart Strategy? Sharp hooks, strong contrasts, humour, UGC, urgency. Mint Mobile proves great marketing doesn’t need huge budgets. They need great ideas.

Very innovative move by Zomato - transforming delivery bags into mobile ad spaces. A brilliant example of leveraging existing logistics infrastructure to create non-core revenue without operational strain. However, there's tremendous scope to expand this idea further, especially for Blinkit and Zomato: • Data-driven hyperlocal ads (based on delivery zones and user behavior) • Brand collaborations with FMCG or D2C startups for targeted campaigns Dynamic pricing for ad slots using delivery density and timing analytics • Eco-friendly co-branding with sustainable packaging partners If executed strategically, this could evolve into a high-margin, scalable media network - turning Zomato's delivery fleet into India's largest mobile advertising platform. #Zomato #Blinkit #Innovation #StartupIndia #DigitalMarketing #AdTech #BusinessStrategy #NewRevenueModel #BrandPartnerships #GrowthMindset #MarketingInnovation #IndianStartups #Entrepreneurship #TechForGood #FutureOfAdvertising

Your next great campaign idea might already be on your customers’ phones. Most brands miss this simple thing: → People are already taking photos and videos with your product. → They just haven’t been asked to share, at least not in a way that feels real. Try something like this: Subject: Got a photo like this? Email body: “We’re putting together a collage of how real people use [product]. No models. No filters. Just everyday folks. Want to be part of it?” What they get: • A $10 gift card • A chance to win a prize • Or just the fun of being featured You can use their photos for: • Social posts • Ads • Welcome emails • Your product pages Real photos from real people beat polished studio shots, Because people trust people, not stock photos.

Could AI have come up with our iconic “Dumb Ways To Die” campaign? To find out, we gave our original Metro Trains brief to ChatGPT. Then visualised its top 3 ideas in Midjourney and animated them through Runway 2. The results were... interesting. But I think our jobs are safe for now. Here’s what happened: Our prompt: "Act as an awarded creative director working in a Melbourne ad agency in 2012. Metro Trains has briefed a low-budget railway poster campaign to change unsafe behaviour in teens and young drivers. We don’t think posters will be effective with this audience though, who are more engaged by digital, mobile, social media and music channels. "So you need to create an alternative highly creative campaign for teens and young adults. The three key unsafe behaviours to target are standing on the edge of train platforms, jumping across the tracks and driving around rail boom-gates. To grab their attention, the creative shouldn’t feel like traditional public service announcements. But it must still be clear it's a rail safety campaign from Metro Trains. The campaign can’t cost more than A$200,000. "What are your top three campaign platform ideas? Use only channels that existed in 2012 and give each a catchy title." ChatGPT: "Certainly! I’m excited: 1.   Track Beats Music Festival: Collaborating with popular local artists and bands, the mundane train platform will transform into a vibrant stage where commuters groove to the beats. But here’s the twist: the lyrics will cleverly incorporate safety messages. Picture a rapper spitting bars about rail safety. The campaign’s tagline: “Stay in Tune, Stay Safe.” Social media teasers, exclusive playlists, and QR codes on posters will lead users to the festival’s digital hub and share rail safety stories. 2.   Platform Puzzlers Mobile Game: Get ready for an addictive mobile game called “Platform Puzzlers.” Players navigate a virtual train platform, avoiding hazards like speeding trains and tempting shortcuts across the tracks. Players earn points by making safe choices (like waiting behind the yellow line) and lose points for risky behavior (like darting across the tracks). The game is free to download, and in-app ads reinforce Metro Trains’ safety messages. The campaign slogan: “Play Smart, Stay Safe.” 3.   Boom-Beats Flash Mob Challenge: Dancers, dressed as commuters, will suddenly break into synchronized flash mobs at busy train stations with boom gates as props. The choreography emphasizes safe behaviors and smartphones will capture the spectacle. The campaign hashtag, #BoomBeatsSafety, encourages people to share their own dance videos. And the grand finale? A massive flash mob at Flinders Street Station, featuring hundreds of participants dancing to an original rail safety anthem: “Don’t rush, don’t push, stay alive!” #advertisingandmarketing #advertising #marketing #brand #digitalmarketing #marketingagency #creativeagency #agencyleadership #agencylife #advertisingagency

So, I've been diving deep into digital marketing for a decade now, specifically focusing on maximizing conversion rates. One of my favourite projects involved optimizing Google Mobile Ads for a client. We saw a decent conversion rate but knew there was room for improvement. I started by analyzing user behavior on mobile devices. We identified key pain points, like slow load times and confusing landing pages. To tackle these, we implemented a few strategies: ◾ Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP): We optimized landing pages to load lightning-fast, reducing bounce rates. ◾ Compelling Mobile-First Ads: We created ads that were visually appealing and easy to understand on smaller screens. ◾ Precise Targeting: We leveraged Google's advanced targeting options to reach the right audience at the right time. The result? A 20% boost in mobile conversion rates! It was incredibly satisfying to see the direct impact of our efforts. Now, I'm curious: How have you optimized your mobile ads to drive conversions? Let's share tips and learn from each other!
